The Ipswich serial killer i say.As i don't want to keep someone like him in luxury, warm, fed, and watered, educated,in a prison via an increase in my taxes. When there is enough evidence against him via dna found on the five ladies that he brutally murdered to put him to the electric chair. The quicker or the sooner this weak goverment of ours bring back the death penalty, the better. As i don't personally want scum like Steve Wright being allowed to live especially when it's us taxpayers paying for his upkeep. As i mean the ladies he murdered will never be coming back from the dead will they.So why then should he be given any chance to breathe or to live for that matter, which to me is an outrage it really is.

The problem with the death penalty is the chance of executing an innocent person....there's not much recourse when they are in the gtound now is there?

....OMG, I need to learn to read better.  I thought you meant Steven Wright, the comedian, and I strongly disagreed.  I just love him....LOL.  Seriously though, I still would strongly disagree.  I don't feel the death penalty - no matter how heinous the crimes - is the way to go..........luci

Yeah, I'm not in favor of the death penalty, either. Though there is surely some scum in the world.

Well, I'm glad that I'm not alone in voting against the death penalty for Wright, or for anybody else. The death penalty is barbaric.

this is a hard subject and it is a bit objective for me.  i read stories of things and often i think that the scumbag that committed a henious crime should be kept alive just to have it all drawn out and more miserable for him/her.  but  if someone harmed a child of mine or a loved one, i'd want that person to to eventually be put to death in the most brutal way imaginable.

emotions get in the way of judgement sometimes.

Shall we allow their barbarism to provoke us to try and match them?

My views.
Is the death penalty harsh... yes
Should it be used... yes
Should the punishment be equal or greater than the crime.... YES

This is why.
If a person is serving a life without parole or is on "death row"      Why shoud they be  alive after the first 1-5 years. In that time they have had enough of a chance to apeal the courts decision.   Kill them and get it over with.

ie.. A 20 yo has commited a crime to get life with out parole so after 20+ years in the system he turns over 40 and has no marketable job skills, has been instatutionalized(sp?) for so long that he becomes a burden to socity and is likely to commit another crime to go back to a lifestyle he knows.

Again kill him in the begining to save the taxpayers money that could be spent on making the bridges safer.

The same goes for the person on death row WTF why write books and talk about your life for 5, 10 , 15 years and waste my tax money.  Shoot them and get it over with.

Yeah, I'm against the death penalty, too.  Any room for error is too much room.  Besides, it's cheaper to just house 'em!  And, just think of all those years they can think about WHY they are in prison.  I rather like the idea.

We should clean out the jails and prisons of non-violent drug-offenders (more than 50%, I understand)...and make room for those who really need to be kept out of society.

JMHO,
Beverly

No I don’t agree with the death penalty. There are so few things that separate civilisation from animals such as Steve Wright, why create fewer? The op also has some strange view of prison life maybe fed to him by the general media, unless he knows more than I do perhaps, myself having never been inside.

We have had various debates here about the case for and against the death penalty and they usually come down to religious nonsense such as; ‘send him to this higher judgement’. Which I’ve always argued is nonsense and strange how we all get to play god when it suits us but look down upon those that play god themselves such as Steve Wright. It’s kind of hypocritical and if I had grown up with a legal system that executed people for murder I wouldn’t have much faith in it. I don’t think it acts as a deterrent because people that do such things can’t resist such actions they are weak and pitiful and never in a position to control their destiny.

Looks like Steve Wright should undergo a little name change, because he seems more like a Steve WRONG.

Bam! Didn't see that one coming, did ya?  Whew!  Goddam, I'm good!

My mama would be sooooooo proud right now.
