If I read the above.....for me it feels like devotion is more for a religion...and submission to a person. Although i don't mind whic one is used...sound more or less the same.

i have never believed in a "give and take" relationship but rather in a "give and receive"  therefore i offered my submission to my Master and He accepted it.  For me, i go with the definition of submission as the yeilding to the power and authority of another.  i have to recognize someone or something as having Authority and Power in order to be submisive to Him or it.
i am devoted to my offspring but not submissive to them.   i am submissive to my Master and totally devoted to our relationship.  The two can be entwined but can also be mutually exclusive.

I am submissive to one. I'm also devoted to him. It grew organically, neither given in a vacuum nor taken by force. As I came to know him, he automatically began to take the lead but would first gather needed information to make a good decision.

He wouldn't announce we were eating at a seafood restaurant and not allow me to say I was allergic to seafood for example. Or stop at an ice cream store and not ask if I liked chocolate or strawberry. The more good decisions he made, the safer I felt allowing him to make decisions. And therefore he would start making more important decisions which also came out well. It took time to know him and for him to know me, to know what I did and did not respond well to.
