Aileen1968 -> Ralph Nader's Running (2/24/2008 7:38:50 AM)

Ralph Nader just announced on Meet the Press that he's running for president.
Should be interesting.

bipolarber -> RE: Ralph Nader's Running (2/24/2008 7:49:55 AM)

Yeah... interesting. Another four years of the GOP raping the Constitution. Another four years of death in Iraq with nothing to show for it. Another four years of the economy ending up in the shit can. Another four years of torture. Another four years of black overseas prisons. Another four years of the rich getting richer, the poor getting poorer, and the middle class getting dismantled. Another four years of not addressing health care. Another four years of our phone calls and emails being wiretapped.

Thanks Ralph.

Aileen:
I wonder what the electoral college would do if Nader got the majority of the popular vote?  Would they have the balls to appoint him president?
While I would like to see Ralph Nader as president I would also like to have sex with Pamela Anderson....looks like the chances of either are pretty slim[:(].

I would rather vote for what I want and not get it than to vote for what I don't want and get it just so I could be on the "winning team"
How about you?
I have read your post and you seem to be more aligned with the goals that Ralph Nader espouses than any of the other candidates.
Then of course there is the fact that we appoint and do not elect presidents in this country.  Having Ralph Nader on the ballot is the only way to prove this....if a majority voted for him what would the power structure do to keep him from the presidency....perhaps a convenient airplane crash or a lone assassin with an antique rifle perched in a tall building somewhere?????

Oh, I'm not against Nader, per se.(Ralph has done a lot of good work for consumer rights, although I think he was way off base with the Chevy Corvair) No, I'm against any "spoiler" who is only going to siphon off votes from primarily the democratic side, insuring that we get the same Republican  "shit for government" for the next four years.

kdsub -> RE: Ralph Nader's Running (2/24/2008 8:21:46 AM)

I wonder if the he is a closet Republican...or if they are secretly paying him under the table...He has to know the damage he is doing to his country and cause... He must be a narcissistic megalomaniac.

If people change their vote because another candidate enters the race then that means, to me at least, that they weren't very satisfied with the choices given to them up to that point.  If someone like Nader can run every election and can get more and more votes each time then eventually they will be able to defeat the two big parties.  It most certainly will be a slow process, but it can be done...as long as people lose that mentality of "I can't vote for him because then the other guy will win".  Both republican and democratic parties suck in my mind.  Having either in is bad for our country.  The only way to get them out is to not vote for them at all levels and in all elections.  A third party can't do any worse for us than what we've endured for years.

Exactly Aileen1968.

Ralph Nader is the none-of-the-above candidate.

I will go Obama if he gets the nod, otherwise Im for Nader.

SugarMyChurro -> RE: Ralph Nader's Running (2/24/2008 8:53:45 AM)

Yeah, as much as I sympathize with what Bipolarber is saying - this election is for the Democrats to lose, not for Nader to steal it away from them. If the Democrats lose it's because no one can distinguish them sufficiently from their opponents.

Now why would that be the case?

Fuck 'em!

P.S. Anyway, I am still voting for McCain because I want a Republican to take the fall for the Bush legacy.

Owner59 -> RE: Ralph Nader's Running (2/24/2008 9:06:49 AM)

I remember republicans were running pro-Nadar ads and helping him gather signatures to get on state ballots.

http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/Story?id=131782&page=1

I wounder how much "help" they will give him this year?

Worse,I wonder how much republican help he will accept willingly?

He`s a tool.

CuriousLord -> RE: Ralph Nader's Running (2/24/2008 9:09:20 AM)

Heh.  Poor Nadder.  He needs a hug.

bipolarber -> RE: Ralph Nader's Running (2/24/2008 9:40:26 AM)

You know, they pulled that "they're both so close to one another, there's really no difference" crap last time, didn't they. Does anyone STILL believe that a Gore presidency would have been indistinuishable from the nightmare we've been living under for the last seven years?

Imagine if Gor had gotten in, if the FL GOP judge had actually fairly called the election in his favor...

9/11: never happened because Gore would have read the Daily Intel brief that week. A minor step up in security at airports thwarts their plans.

or, if it had happened:

We attack Afghanatan, and we don't bother with Iraq at all. 4,000+ American troops still alive, 20,000+ are not wounded, and 60,000 + Iraqi civilians still alive. Iraq's infrastructure still intact. Hussein still in power, but Iraq is not a training/breeding ground for terrorists. Al Queda crushed.

LadyHathor -> RE: Ralph Nader's Running (2/24/2008 10:10:51 AM)

He at times has fractured the votes, I wonder what this will do ths time, or is it too late for an impact, I will say I am not happy with the spitting contest between Hill and Obama--and McCain--pffttt

oy oy oy what's a girl to do?

pahunkboy -> RE: Ralph Nader's Running (2/24/2008 11:44:17 AM)

never heard of him.

Alumbrado -> RE: Ralph Nader's Running (2/24/2008 2:06:03 PM)

Rich guy, good haircut, desperate for power, he's 'for' education,and health care, and more services ,and less taxes, and peace, and all...

Does that help?

bipolarber -> RE: Ralph Nader's Running (2/24/2008 2:16:55 PM)

...and he's against the Chevy Corvair.

Alumbrado -> RE: Ralph Nader's Running (2/24/2008 2:31:55 PM)

Funny, he was all for it until he got turned down for that big executive promotion at GM....[;)]

Oh great!
Four years of Mad Dog McCain!

CuriousLord -> RE: Ralph Nader's Running (2/24/2008 3:26:51 PM)

I really doubt Gore having won the election would've stopped 9/11.  Or Katrina.
