I don’t know what everyone is so worried about. Canada’s military consists of a half dozen Mounties, a couple of drunk lumber jacks in a canoe and a flying squirrel (their national military command is located in a Tim Hortons).

Seriously, there is already a lot of unofficial cross border help during emergencies. For example, when a large fire breaks out on one side of the border (the kind of blaze that requires multiple fire companies), they’ll clear the lanes on the bridges so fire engines from one country can swoop in to help. There will often be a similar sharing of resources during weather emergencies like blizzards which (and some people being from Minnesota, I’d think they would realize this) the Great Lakes region is prone to.

Take my word for it; watch out for those friendly fires...

The only reason I would shake a Us solider's hand is to check for the knife he will eventually stab into my back.

I'd rather have a Canadian who is reluctant to shoot, than a American who thinks I have a bullseye on my back.
