How do you know what you are, who you are?

Brutal honesty and self-reflection. I'll tell you this as well. I didn't start by knowing who I 'was' so much as knowing what I wanted, which was sexual domination. The experiences since that time have rounded out my self-knowledge and led me to where I am in this moment .. which could be a completely different thing in any moment after this one. The journey has been pretty incredible, tough at times, supremely rewarding and I hope the ride never ends. If it does, I'll be grateful for having been allowed to ride it for so long.

I am a Mother my oldest being 38, my youngest deceased at 18 (you know there is no term for a mother that has lost her child, though we have the words Orphans, widows etc..).

You are still a mother. You never stop being a mother, no matter where your offspring are.

lusciouslips19 -> RE: Who/What you are? (2/26/2008 12:32:49 PM)

Well, of course you dont know who you are as of yet. You are only twenty. There is plenty of enough time for you to explore your roles.

sensiia -> RE: Who/What you are? (2/26/2008 1:00:22 PM)

I am me, a woman of substance. I enjoy seeing people happy, especially those I care about and love. I am a masochist when it is reflected in BDSM. I am not a submissive but I am obedient to my man and no one else, yet I am his equal just our power is unequal.

Does it really matter if we have a label attched to us, all that should matter is we exist and have a purpose in this world, in and how we live our lives. Be kind to one another, love and laugh often.

hrm okay

towards "justme" Nah i won't change my name. But don't expect me to be completely respectful towards someone who messages me and is too lazy to pay attention to something as simple as the spelling of a name.

To "luciouslips19"; Actually generally I know what i Am and look for. What gets to me is when people who talk to me. Because i'm not completely submissive or because i'm not what they want. They attack what i am, by stating I don't know what i look for. The general question was merely pertained because i was curious how others came about to knowing they were something or another. I don't know if you read the rest of the posts here. But somewhere, i clearly state that I am a switch. I know that for a fact. I also know what I enjoy, What i'm curious about learning, and what i typically don't like.

There will always be those who wget there jollies by trying to make others feel bad. You are as unique individual and you really dont have to prove it to everyone who says rude things to you because you are not what they are looking for. They just have to move along. There are plenty who will accept you as is. So keep being who you are and Rock on.

lusciouslips could you bend back a little. I would like to look up once in a while.  Who am I. Im a complicated, versatile person. A man of many facets. I am smarter than a fifth grader. Do I care who you are . No.  Sounds like you have some maturing to do. Learn to let words either go pass you or bounce off of you. So some people don't like you. Welcome to the club. Quit trying to explain yourself. Just put it out there and ignore the junk.

whiteslavebitch -> RE: Who/What you are? (2/26/2008 4:56:02 PM)

I am Masterk's slave. It has been an approximately 8 year
journey of discovery.

When I discovered BDSM I intuitively knew I was sub-
missive,but  never believed I'd be a slave. Like many others,
I assumed all slaves were doormats, but i learned. And
MasterK has inspired my slavery.

I'm not sure I would be a slave to another.

I like what you said, LadyHathor.  I often struggle over whether or not I am "submissive" and agree with the.dark when they said that they were submissive, but not a submissive.  Labels are not very important.  In fact, I believe that they act as constraints on an individual because people are different at different times and in different situations to different people.  You've given me something to think about.

christine1 -> RE: Who/What you are? (2/26/2008 6:22:38 PM)

i am me, and i am who i am sam i am.

ok in all seriousness...my name really is sam.

PrincessEllie -> RE: Who/What you are? (2/26/2008 6:33:25 PM)

I know I am a submissive, but for me it's more than that. If I had to be really frank, I'd say I'm just me, and submission is a part of me as opposed to me being a part of it. I'm so much more than my submission, and my relationship is so much more than just kink.

XiaoTheOwl -> RE: Who/What you are? (2/27/2008 10:08:50 AM)

Who am I?
I am salt, I am water, I am air, I am Me, I am Y/you...
I am U/us, one of many, and one of few...
I am a thought, a perception, a dream...
I am me...
I'm am a neural electrode, that manifests into a memory...
I am actions, that leaves permanent markings on other's minds, souls, and possibly future...
I am human, like the rest... However, I 'm not what I seem...
Seem to be... before, presently, and tomorrow.

I am me, a complex puzzle, and this may be hard to swallow...
I am me, whom is not "me", but what I choose to create out of my existence...
I am my shell, my soul, my mind...
My cognative 'being', a growing, learning, part of me, with it's own form of presence,
I'm not detached, but free.
Simply put, I am ME.

I thought maybe I should mention, that I'm a D.
Yes, I know this question was posted in the 'ask a submissive/slave' forum...
However, I think this is a question A/all should ask themselves...

I completely agree that all should ask themselves this question in a manner of speaking. It goes without saying, that whenever you say something to yourself, it's ussually a good idea to question "why". You learn alot more that way and normally it can prevent people from lying to themselves. No matter what the context of the question.
