Well, to set your mind at ease, that's not the way I mean it at all.  I'm just referring to the fact that as time goes on, some things that seemed so shocking at first, become more normalized with time, exposure, knowledge, education and experience.  And, then one day, you realize, it isn't so crazy after all. 

Does that make sense?  Can you relate to that?  Aren't there any things you've done later on that at first you were very reluctant about?  For whatever reason.

This is a nice conversation, it touches on pushing boundaries and limits as a couple get deeper inside each others thoughts and feelings.

Oh, it's not a rant about the idea at all; which i completely understand.  It's more over the phrase itself, one of the many phrases that we use everyday that i think many would stop using if they really thought about it.  It's not an attack on you or calling you stupid; it's just a pet peeve that i've become a little more peevish about since i've got a Dominant who loves when i make broad statements...  Use your imagination, i'm sure you can think of way to take sadistic and humiliating pleasure after hearing your submissive make a broad statement.  Think of something like "I would eat anything if there's mustard on it.".

ROFL....Sorry.  Couldn't help it.  But to me, your example is more of a "be careful what you say," versus a "never say never."

In your example...someone makes a claim....later to be held to their word.

In my example....someone expresses no desire whatsoever, then later decides it might be pleasureable, after all.

Alright a couple of things here..i said never to golden showers and i still have a limit regarding them,,,,i won't drink it nor do i want it splashed in my face but anywhere else on the torso is acceptable..i am alittle touchy about food play as i won't eat something out of a Domina's pussy but if banana slices for example were placed on the lips...then by all means..of course the same would be true for breasts.

i had a friend when i was young, who foolishly asked for ketchup for a very fine steak.  his father declined to serve it, saying the steak didnt need covering over.  friend did then foolishly and loudly claim that he loved EVERYTHING with ketchup, and the dad handed him the bottle.

for some silly reason the same ketchup served on a slice of chocolate cake didnt appeal.  that was how he learned the meaning of the word "hyperbole".  [:D]

I can remember thinking when I first got back into "it" that there were some things that looked so over the top I'd never do them.
Don't remember if I voiced a "NEVER" opinion out loud or not, but I can almost bet that I was wrong, or I've changed my mind by now.

I was in a different mindset then, coming from a long hiatus from any kind of kink, never mind D/s or M/s

Now, I am much more open, although I still have my own personal bias.

I usually have the opposite problem...I want to do everything (within reason) of course.  After 21 years in the lifestyle...I still find new and exciting things to try, people to learn from and experiences yet to be discovered, which is a wonderful thing.  Instead of "never say never" I usually say "I'll try anything once" which is as equally as damning.

The one thing that sticks out in my mind is I was very adamant to not wanting to play with cross dressers/gender bending and now it is a very vital part of my play with my submissive.  I was able to see the beauty in this type of play with the right person and I am so happy I didn't pass on this person, who turned out to be the love of my life.
