I find them very impractical. After a few hours even in a cool room, I'm laying in a pool of sweat. The latex doesn't "wick" moisture away the same way cotton does.

Of course rubber isn't a big turn-on for me. Maybe for someone who was the kink would overpower the inconvenience.

I agree with John. They're just too inconvenient. Of course, I may be biased. That was how I found out that I had a very bad latex allergy.....

From what I understand, latex beds are primarily for a different type of support, and it's recommended that you use a some sort of fiber topper with them, because otherwise they get really, really hot and you end up sweating like a pig, like JohnWarren said. So, perhaps for a scene, maybe that's ok, but it seems like a real expensive investment just for scening.

I'm an out-and-out latex fetishist but even I can't manage to sleep in latex sheets. Depending on the time of year they can be cold when you first get into them. They will warm up rapidly, but if you change position (and we all do, don't we?) you get the shivers again.
In summer they are too damn hot. and as John Warren says, the pool of sweat gradually becomes a lake!
If I haven't TOTALLY put you off then visit www.betweenthesheets.co.uk. They offer rubber, satin, silk, velvet and even leather! The other downer about latex? The price!!! I'm saving up for a set of leather sheets for my new king-size bed.

P.S. I have a latex fitted sheet, latex duvet cover, latex valance and two latex pillowcases for sale! (Just kidding!)

I happen to adore them. I don't sleep covered in them. . .I use them as a bottom sheet. It's very practical for when you are dressed fully enclosed and sleep because it keeps the polish/lube from getting on your normal bedding. To me. . .sweating is a very minor "inconvenience" (if I can even call it that) for a full gummi night. I think for a lot of latex fetishists. . .getting sweaty is part of the appeal. Putting your head/face on latex pillow cases when you are hooded is much better than the other options.

I have no experience with PVC bedding. . . I don't really like PVC.

That's just my two cents.

well, it seems like getting latex matterss cover sheets are the best and use a regular comforter for a blanket. The latex pillow cases seem awsome, but only if your hooded. So the bottom line seems to be that if your already in latex, the sheets are awsome, but if your not, you will be pretty sweaty and uncmfortable.

sidebar: why is PVC less expencive then latex?

Latex is a natural substance (made from rubber trees) and it is harder to make than PVC. .which is totally synthetic. There are varienties of synthetic rubber out there but I don't think that they use them for the stuff that we see in fetish. (Stef will probably come in and elucidate on that. . .she's a wealth of information.)

Latex generally is going to be more expensive also because most if the latex stuff (unless it is molded) isn't mass produced. It is made by hand and glue together. You might want to go to a website catering to latex products and read the "about our product" area. They generally describe the process pretty thoroughly.

I can not afford latex sheets, got pleather for a sheet set but need someone to stitch it.

I would highly suggest you buy a plastic matress cover (and use a shower curtain if you want a top sheet), while it will feel nothing like latex it will be non-breathable and you will find out how you like the sweatyness for a few bucks before you go spend hundreds on latex sheets.

I use plastic covers for now.

I like the direction britbastard is going. Leeaatthher (say it slowly, it sounds so sensual). No experience with latex but I can imagine rolling over in the middle of the night and catching a chest hair or two on the rubber. I would prefer sleeping on a block of ice.
