Not sure where YOUR bruises are, but if you find them, look around for mine, too, would ya? Honestly, I stopped bruising about 6 months after getting regularly spanked...and I have several different types of implements, floggers, a leather strop, crop, leather belt.....no wooden paddle of my own, but have had one used on me.....nada! I welt, especially now that I hae a cane, which I actually LOVE!, but bruises just don't happen anymore. I have discovered that if my partner tries to make me bruise, it involves a use of force that seems to throw both of us off......he can't hit a rhythm, and I just get pissed...not at him, but rather at the fact that I can't get into the pain itself. It sucks not being able to see all the pretty colors, but once your body gets used to different stresses, it adapts. I found this out in basic training.....it is amazing what happened there. But bruising is funny.....I can take a 3 hour beating without a surface mark, but hit the wrong spot on my arm when testing my blood sugar, I have a bruise there for a week! Have a big purple and green one there as we speak.

One thing that I found can help in areas where the skin has thickened or for those tough to bruise is to massage a cream such as Ben Gay or Tiger Balm into the area first. This apparently helps to dialate the blood vessels and make them more accessible to bruising in the area. Plus it adds it's own sting to the torment. poenkitten

There's also the intensity issue.... does he start off slow? As blood fills the area turning it red, it starts to act as padding.

sometimes we start off slow and sometimes we jump in feet first... so if he doesn't "warm me up" first i have a better chance of bruising? is it safe to not be warmed up first?

Nope, it is used BEFORE play, usually in a massage to help relax muscles and increase blood flow. Never ever, ever, use once the skin is broken and be sure to wipe it off throughly before beginning and wash hands. A Sadist who used to handle maintenance for me was the one that taught me this trick, he was one of the few people who could actually get a mark on me that wasn't gone in 20 minutes. The massage/prep was extremely sensual as well and great for putting you into a mild holding pattern for sub space. I currently have a balance problem and constantly bump into walls, shelving in stores etc..not a blipping mark..sigh, TG the insurance company doesnt require visual proof. poenkitten

Wow! is most of what i can say. i hadn't thought to bring this in as a topic but glad it's been done. my Mistress and i have been struggling with the lack of bruising as well and had not been able to figure out why. it's certainly not for lack of trying on a regular basis. She uses different implement each time which varry from a belt,a riding crop,rope flogger and wooden paddle.but there has hardly been any bruising where there had been bruising before. we are taking some of the responses the origional poster has gotten on this and seeing what for us will make the difference. thanks for bringing this to the table :)

It is rather frustrating knowing that the pretty marks on my bum are going to be gone when I wake in the morning. It would be nice to have that physical reminder of Him the next day but for some reason, while my body bruises and changes color very nicely during play, it has basically cleared up within 24 hours. ughhh!!

I didnt think that I was ever going to bruise. I dont mark easily in the least. I have only recently enjoyed the bruises of a nice beating. When I first met my now Mistress and I had told Her that I dont mark easily She took that as a challenge. Now mind you others have tried but She is the first to ever accomplish it. She starts off by warming me up with different items such as Her hand and lite flogging. But once Im nice and warm She goes for it. Hard flogging and paddling. Moving around but focusing on the more sensitive areas at times. After our second session I had bruises for a week. They were so lovely. I hate it when I dont have any to admire. you know now that you mention it, i havn't had bruises from the riding crop in awhile....that is weird will have to look at the others responses now...so no your not alone (i like bruises) ~meticulous~

So which are the best implements for causing that so loved bruising? does the large mass impact of a paddle or tawse cause more tissue bruising or would the focussed energy of a crop or cane leave a more permanent signature?
