Dear Doms, I am wondering... What do you think is the best way to introduce a novice to spanking? For example, do you think it's best to start off with an "erotic" type spanking or more of a "punishment" kind of spanking?

i saw this thread and just had to comment on it from my POV when i had my first spanking with my Dom even though i'm a sub. It was very lightly at first with all implements bare bottom to let me taste each. Very sensual, not a hard spanking at all.

There's no "best", there are no rules to this, it depends on the people involved, etc, etc.

It always depends on the people involved. My first spanking was relaxed, hand on skin only, and fun. It varied from soft to hard, and went along various points of my body. In the end, I had some markings along my thighs a few days afterwards. However, the encounter I had certainly wouldn't work for everything. twinkie, It depends on what your goal is for the spanking. If you want her to ask for more and include in your play, then soft to medium.Spread it around looking for the spots that connect the most and make sure you talk her through it. If you are looking to alter a behavior and are spanking for punishment make them moderately hard but limit the numberof spanks (I'd recomend less than 10). Live well, Tym Touchyourmind

Depends if you want there to be a second. Think about it, nice girl with no bdsm experience and your first thing is to grab her out of the blue, announce she burned the toast and needs to be punished. My First spanking from Master was bare hand and bate but. It was harder than i though it would be not enough to not let me sit down but enough to leqve a little sting. If it's an erotic spanking, I start very lightly and build up to a rosy glow, and a sting she will feel for several minutes, then let her process it. Sometimes they want more right away, and sometimes they want more the next time. If it is a disciplinary spanking, and they are new to it, I'll gauge her reaction as I go, stopping short of any intensity that will scare her from coming back again, but aiming to have her feel it for a day or so. If I am introducting the cane in erotic play, I start with very light taps and an occasional hard tap. Whereas many subs dread the cane, I find if it is introduced correctly they will often end up craving it. With punishment, I limit the first time to six, not intended to leave welts lasting more than a very short time.
