Obviously, not everyone agrees with FairTrade products, with the arguments that it only helps a few people, or that it really doesn't make that much difference and that the increased cost that consumers have to pay doesn't justify the ends.
Now I got the negative out of the way [;)] - it is 'FairTrade Fortnight' with events happening across the country and even if you don't support fairtrade products, its a good way of educating, so that younger (and older) people are aware which products come from which country and with education failing so badly to inform generally, I personally feel it kind of rocks.
Personally, I support both local farmers and fairtrade producers and believe both go hand in hand.

Another person here for Fairtrade and agree with your sentiments regarding local farmers.

Thanks for the tip.

The argument that Fair Trade helps only a few is a specious one.  Helping a few is always better than helping none.
