I think i just found my dream job. Managing a new retail shop locally that is sorta 'kink friendly'.
Ever heard of Torrid? It's a division of Hot Topic and specializes in plus size for women. Lot's of trendy inexpensive clothes. I'd love to know if you ladies have ever worn their clothes and what you think of the quality. It's somewhat goth, but mostly what I'd call chubby-chic ;) I'm going to order some pieces in hopes of several interviews, and just because i like a lot of it. I have a wishlist already saved lol...
any thoughts?

xoxo

Actually, I haven't heard of it. I love Hot Topic, though. At least selectively, because I got my Ziggy Stardust shirt from there. And my first corset.

Actually I have heard of Torrid because I used to own Hot Topic stock, and that was the best investment I've ever made. I haven't followed it lately though.

From a business perspective I was impressed with the way they managed and turned their inventory and I got a sense that they are smart about managing their people as well. I also thought the Torrid concept was a shrewd bit of target marketing. So congratulations! I think there are a lot of crappy places to work out there and this sounds pretty good!

I have a few of their things, but rarely. I find them overpriced and more like Lane Bryant for goth/punks in their shapes/fit, which doesn't work for my body type.

I've never been to a Hot Topic or a Torrid shop. I can attest to the fact everyone at munches and parties raves about both shops though.

No idea on the quality of clothing beyond it being cheap to purchase.

Thank you!! If nothing else I hope to end up just an employee, but that would fall below my salary requirements. I'm all about working my way up though. I'm surprised you found them overpriced, ES2, if you go to Torrid.com it seems inexpensive to me but again, I don't know about the quality. I've had mixed feelings about Lane Bryant. They have the quality usually, but they used to have the tendency to go rather tent like in their cuts and their casual wear was this horrid sporty-yet-fat look. Some seasons you can find good mix and match pieces but they are rarely 'sexy'. I think it's ingenious to come out with a line for plus size 20 somethings that kicks Hot Topic up a notch and provides stuff you can wear on business casual days. It's admittedly not the prettiest clothes I've ever seen but I still think they fill a unique niche.
