Or does the word 'opera' simply suggest that it works?

It looks nice, but I didn't find a "add engines" button (to search on IMDB, Amazon...), and it didn't automatically import my bookmarks from firefox. I just searched where the bookmarks for firefox are so I could import them, but I didn't find them. Maybe that just means I'm too stupid to use Opera. I'm not removing opera yet. Firefox uses a lot of memory when browsing several tabs for some time, I'd like to know if Opera handles this problem better.

I'm not sure, but personnaly I set a fox on fire every time I launch firefox, just in case.

I don't know how to import the bookmarks from Firefox. That's a really good question.

You WILL find, however, that Opera is a lot more lightweight and gives you far less problems with windows being open, animated gifs, flash programs and PDF files to name just a few. There are also a lot of features built into Opera that you might find useful.

I much prefer Firefox to Internet Explorer, but every so often Firefox chokes on a webpage and can't open it. If Opera can perform more reliably and still be resistant to all the junk that that IE is susceptible then I will start singing the praises of Opera.

I am quite certain you will really enjoy it and it also does not support ActiveX controls or VBScript.

I managed to import my Firefox bookmarks to Opera, but the only method I could figure out is a little clumsy.

1. Launch Firefox, and from the 'Bookmarks' menu choose "Manage bookmarks".

2. A new window will appear titled "Bookmarks Manager". From its 'File' menu choose "Export"

3. A new window will appear titled "Export bookmarks file". The default filename is 'bookmarks' and that is fine. However, the default file type is "All Files" and I suggest changing that to "HTML files".

4. Note what folder this file will be saved to - on my computer it was in the "My Pictures" folder. You will need to remember which folder it is. When you have done that, click on the "Save" button.

5. Now lauch Opera. From the 'File' menu choose "Import and export". A sub menu will open up, choose "Import Netscape/Firefox bookmarks".

6. A new window will appear, titled "Select Netscape bookmarks to import". Right below the title are the words "Look in:" these words are followed by a drop down box. You will need to change the drop down box so that the folder with your Firefox bookmarks file (from step 4) appears in the drop down box.

7. When you finished with that, locate the file named "bookmarks" in the folder. Select that file. Then click on the "Open" button. You should get a message saying that "XXXXX number of entries have been imported.

8. Congratulations! You're done! Yay!

Now that this is done, there are still 2 problems :
-I have no idea how to add search engines such as wikipedia, dictionary.com, amazon.com...
-When I click on a link with the middle button, nothing happens. I need to use both hands if I want to open a link in a new tab ! What do you think I am ? An athlete ?

So it's not doing it for me. Maybe the next release.

edit : and there is an awful feature : apparently if I talk to someone and the microphone is on, Opera might think I'm talking to it. Why would I want to nother talkning to a computer when I can get the same reasults with just a click of the mouse ???

Status: offline 		Did you look anywhere in the options to map the middle mouse button for opening in a new tab? It's under Tools > Preferences > Advanced.

That's one problem down. Now I just realize I don't know how to block the ads, stupid me.
And still no idea about how to add a search engine, I even checked the opera website ! :)
