If anyone has seem my comments in a couple of other threads, I have started leaning towards support of Obama. This has meant more digging on my part, into what is currently occuring with Obama, as well as his history. It seems there has been investigations into those close to Obama, with a friend of his currently on trial for Racketeering charges. Now it seems they are going after Obama's church http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/02/26/irs_investigating_obamas_churc_2.html

These are what I call the secret weapons of poltics, where those with influence drop a word to the right department, and investigations and allegations occur. Usually when I see many behind the scenes pulling of strings to get things like this done, there are some power brokers that are scared. What do others think?

I think it happens every day. It's just the way they do business here.

they will smear him. but thats how elections are. i understand that in France the same left right thing occurs tho not as religiously based.

i was watching the energy debate in congress. amazing how the pa rebub says gas will go up- and jobs lost.  1. gas will go up-. 2. whem did he start caring over the peons.

this hatred towrd mortage help..   might deregulation have failed?  when you buy a house you are at the banks mercy- and once you get a certain amount of time into the process- one simply cant back out. and they know it and use it to extort. all legal.  now that it collapsed- blame the victem.

why no tax on stock transfers?

when they legislate gravity- gravity will no longer be public domain.

I don't think it is him  specifically. He is succeeding, anytime that happens people are gonna look  for dirt. In politics guilt by association is much more problematic than it is for you and me. Perception is all there is.

Well they went after Romney for being a Mormon.  They went after Huckabee for being a Baptist minister.  Obama is not the only one.  They all have to put up with this; it's just politics. They are big boys, they can take it.

The teachings of Obamas church will not paticularly sit well with many middle of the road Americans.  It's fair game to point out they give awards to people like Farakhan, or what the church says on its home page.  No secret weopon involved in looking at the Churche's homepage.

~FR~

I am speaking specifically of the IRS investigation of the church.

Yeah the church has some odd notions, but then again many churches do, if you look closely enough.

I admit being of a mixed mind on this. On the one hand do i think the current administration could make an investigation happen? Hell yeah. On the other hand, the IRS could be accused of favoritism if they didn't investigate.

Jeff

I just think once you step into this arena, you had better be ready for some shit

Alumbrado, but I was talking about his specific Church.  Church of Christ has a lot of different offshoots, and I certainly dont think John Adams or John Corzine was proudly celebrating his bond to Africa and the Black experience.   Perhaps people won't have a problem with it.  But,

"We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian... Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community."

Is hardly what people generally think of when someone says they are a Christian.  It looks like a pretty active church so there is nothing sinister about them not trumpeting the award they gave to Farakhan for outstanding leadership on the front page anymore.  But it is a reality that Obama will have to deal with.

This is Obamas church  http://www.tucc.org/home.htm

Secret weapons???  Maybe to the brain-dead or the hopelessly naive idealists.  Anybody who has ever dipped a toe into the pool of a political campaign knows how this stuff works.

Find the dirt.  Leak the dirt 'off the record.'  If you can't find something, make shit up.  As Lyndon Johnson said, "Let's make him deny it."  This game is about power, people, and if Barry can't handle this, he's got no business in the White House.

I think I've found the place where he could secure my vote.  I need to believe he KNOWS he's lying when he talks about pulling out of Iraq.

Secret Weapons is a metaphore, do you need a link to a definition.

Yeah we need to pull out of Iraq, it is draining too much money out of this country.

You already defined your terms and metaphors, Orion.  I'll repeat that they are about as secret as the the Israeli nuclear arsenal.

Orders from the top are rarely a requirement.  It happens organically, and can initiate from many possible sources.

There is another great quote from politics, attributed to Huey Long, "Never write what you can say, say what you can whisper, whisper what you can express with a gesture or gesture when you can raise an eyebrow (paraphrased)."
