One of the reasons that some people can't tell the difference between cops, and crooks with badges, is that if they could somehow get their hands on a real badge..... they'd be crooks.

I find it silly to draw any segment of society with such a broad brush.
Of course there are those who are drawn to it in order to control and/or hurt others.
Many more are there to 'protect and to serve', and actually live and believe that.
(although some of the things I've seen on the news lately just sickens me...how can you laugh after seeing a fellow officer treat someone in such a manner?)

if i recall correctly that town is screwy.

as far as cops go- they follow police science which is hard for the lay person to understand.   the police chief has the say--  many criminal eleement commit so much crime- whine when they get busted -try to wiggle out- on the one time it could be a shade of gray- many times being let slide many times prior.

I grew up with a very nice young man who became a Police officer.
Shortly after he joined the police he was shot and killed in the line of duty.
Are you going to tell me he was no good?
Wake up the world is not black and white.

I wasn't laughing, and don't know why you would say that.

Anyone who gets a badge in order to be able to commit crimes under color of authority is a criminal who lied to get a badge, not a fellow officer.

There are good and bad in every segment of society, whether it be socio-economic, racial, religious, gender, or profession.  The fact remains that lumping all [insert group here] together and deciding that they are all bad or all good is, in my opinion, beyond ridiculous and uneducated.

I know several police officers in various levels of authority, and these people, along with thousands of other law enforcement officials, have to deal with the basest parts of humanity each and every day.  They do things that most of us would not be able to comprehend nor deal with on a daily basis.  They put themselves in harm's way to protect the citizens whom they took an oath to serve. 

Just because there are some really bad cops who have taken their positions of authority and bastardized them, absolutely does NOT mean that all law enforcement officials are bad.  It means that there are people who are bad, and some of them, are police officers.

I agree with what you wrote Red and adding to that.
we had good doctors and we have doctors who abuse their patients
we have good teachers and we have teachers who molest their students
we have decent priests and we have priests who also molest young members of their congregation
we have parents who raise well balanced offspring and we have parents who abandon/abuse/murder their offspring.
The list goes on and on. Bad apples are found in every segment of the human race, period.

i hear that there are also some abusive dominants and even submissives who are only out to wet their own whistles.  Who'd have thunk it?  There really are bad people in every group; even one as honest, understanding, tolerant and wholesome as ours.

I personally know a lot of wonderful people in law enforcment.  Sadly when you put people in positions of power there is bound to be corruption. 

It does not by any means make them all bad.

I knew a couple of good cops.  One was great in bed and a wonderful kisser.  On top of that (when he wasn't on top of me) he was and is a stand-up detective.  He took everything to heart and always did his job with caring and by the book.

I hate when people judge many by few.
