Sisters I am wondering... I am a fairly novice sub and I have my period for hte first time since getting involved with the lifestyle (yes very fresh meat...) I was wondering how do your Masters/ Doms deal with this in general? I am wondering what to expect in the way of typical reactions out there but also some ideas so that I have an idea of what to look for in a potential Master in this area. It is more an issue because the first day I usually have very terrible cramps and even a tampon is more tahn I can bear sometimes. I would appreciate your guidance, advice, insights and so on in this area. Thank you, sisters.
Nel

I think for the majority of females in the world, if any adjustments need to be made, they can be made unobtrusively, taking a few pills, taking a longer shower, exercising a bit more, etc and require absolutely no change in day-to-day workings. It might be helpful to make your partner aware of your cycle so they can at least understand any crimps that come up, but I don't think it should be cause for any disruption or special accommodations.

For the FEW percentage who experience actual crippling emotional/physical effects from it, obviously it should be handled as any illness or dysfunction should.

PS. While I don't take offense at being called "sister," it's not a term I prefer to be referred to and not an automatic sense of relationship that I have with someone

Hello nelbot,
Periods are part of womanhood. Most Masters know we have them. Just deal with your cycle just like you would if you were in a vanilla relationship. It's not like a Master would expect you to not bleed, as it's inconvenient or something.
I have heard of cervical caps your GYN can order for you that fit over your cervix. This way you can walk around naked and not worry the tampon will bleed over. If you're too campy for that the first couple of days just stay home and play on plastic or in the shower.
To me periods are no big deal even though mine are terribly heavy and painful too. It's life, it's the way it is & it's OK.
Sincerely,
sub suzanne

yes Emerald Slave, sorry I meant no offense, it is just as caitlyn said I looked for a convention to address the forum! It just sounded better coming out than "hey ya'll" mea culpa, and thank you again for your post in the Master's forum with the links to other threads on this subject, I guess I just felt the need for some reassurance today, since I am still just on the cusp of learning I kind of feel a little trepidatious and wanted to reach out . Thank you again!

nelbot,

there is a product on the market called Instead. They are similar to a cervical cap, they are great I have used them for several years now. While there is no mess you have to be careful and gethte placement right or it will leak. I have no problem doing anythiing my Master would have me do including sex.

Since I'm not a 24/7 sub, but I do live with master, it's easy to skirt around the times I'm feeling worst. If you genuinely are feeling awful, tell him so. Honesty's usually the best policy.

mystictryst -> RE: That Time for a fresh subbie (9/20/2005 10:32:00 PM)

I've always made clear one week of the month "back off, I'm off limits." I used to get very ill, cramps, and all things evil. I don't like sex then. It's non negotiable. Not to say that we've never been involved, but it usually on my terms, not his. Subbie be damned, sometimes the real world trumps everything.

I think that time/confidence/deepening relationships will often alter initial limits.. Meaning, at first, you may take the "week off" approach, but as time passes and your comfort level grows, you can always reexamine the situation. My advice is to do what you feel comfortable with. It has been my experince that many dom/dommes are aware of comfort zones and can be accepting and even accommodating.

I know how you feel about 'that time of the month'. Being very new to all this too last month as my first time! We managed! Wee found that with some adjustments it was 'business as usual'. Master was understanding that there were times I was not happy to accomodate him but He was very supportive. It comes down to the relationship you have with any Master. I have been with mine for a long time, as Vanilla, and a very short time in this Lifestyle. He KNOWS what I am like at certain times and makes allowances for it!

Admittedly, He did 'punish' me for my bad attitude afterwards!!! Lets see what this month brings!

I like the idea of caps that prevent tampons leaking. If only I could wear tampons still! (Another story!)

Good luck with everything!

Hello nelbot,

For MsN and myself; it all depends on how crampy and how heavy the flow is.
Myself, I tend to be more hesitant and don't want to be sexual the first couple days when the flow and cramping are worse, I am more open to it once the flow get's lighter. Sometimes MsN understands and sometimes She wants me and I give myself to Her, regardless.

MsN on the other hand enjoys it whenever She is turned on. Period, flow, cramps, getting messy are not concerns for Her. And of course I usually take care of Her needs. If Her desire is for only oral and She is flowing heavy, She showers and puts in a clean tampax right before. Penetration, we usually cover the area and and carry on as we always do, just a bit more clean-up[;)].
