Catman2010 -> Vacbeds (2/27/2008 8:29:08 PM)

So I've been interested in vacbeds for a bit, but know how pricey they are. Has anyone here ever experienced a vacbed, and able to share stories on what it's like?

G9o5d4 -> RE: Vacbeds (2/27/2008 9:01:47 PM)

I love 'em. Put me in and leave me there. I bought mine from cocoon, Birmingham, England. I went in to get something else and they let me test drive one. Forgot what I went in for but walked out with a vacbed. Need I say more....

Cyis75 -> RE: Vacbeds (2/28/2008 5:02:05 AM)

I enjoyed getting into a vacubed one time at a private house party. The owner of it was a good friend and had just gotten it shipped over from England so it was a very popular piece of equipment that night. The price is a big hurdle but no more so than any of my electrical play toys so I could actually see getting one at some point. Even being dominant it was very fun to get in as it was very comfortable. Most described it as being back in the womb.

Does your body ever get cramps in it?

azropedntied -> RE: Vacbeds (2/28/2008 8:19:33 PM)

I was in one for hours no cramps , and having long  nails  raked over me was delicious ,for me a mummification lover , it was amazing and always is every time .Very calming to me , very womb like though i can not recall that far back .As far as the cost i made one then sold it to a pal .It was  very cheap for me to make . Just took  some time .I know someone here who made one out of an old air  hockey table , sealed it and used plastic drop clothes , so every person  had a fresh wrap .
in short two thumbs up , if i had more thumbs i  would  use um !

Not only have I used one extensively, I have an extra set of clear vacbed sheets that my company bought for a film shoot that we never ended up using. We thought we'd assemble and mummify 3 guys but due to camera angles and the like decided to go with only two. I've been looking to sell mine for a few weeks now, but due to the cost I'm assuming, I'm not getting many hits. Mine are made by Expectations in London and the company I work for is Leatherpost.com You'd need to build your own PVC frame but it's really simple and about $20 in materials if you have a saw and a drill already or a friend with them. I'm asking $350 for them, from our site and others, they are around $650. Trust me, this is one of the best toys you could ever want.

Catman2010 -> RE: Vacbeds (2/29/2008 4:43:01 AM)

Yeah, it looks amazing, but every time I see them online they are pricey as hell. I'd still love to try one some time.

MsSaskia -> RE: Vacbeds (2/29/2008 9:09:53 AM)

The trouble with vac beds, or at least with the one I had, is that unless you can take them apart, they're difficult to clean and impossible to store without risking damage. I couldn't take mine apart, so I had to find a place to stand it up where it wouldn't be leaning against anything that might poke it and where it wouldn't be at risk for things falling over onto it. Getting the 7' PVC frame with a latex envelope through the door and around corners was also risky and I never managed it without scraping or bumping something. Since the latex fatigues and weakens easily, every little bump or scrape was a point where a hole could develop and widen. Yes, patching is possible, but looks shabby and the patch won't feel the same as nice, smooth, seamless latex. Being able to take the envelope off, clean and store it properly powdered and folded would've added another year or two to the life of my bed.

The one I had was constructed so that people had to lie as flat as possible and slide in sideways. The problem with that is that people are not flat, so anyone with a big belly or who was just a big person stretched the zipper to the point of tearing on entering and exiting, and sliding in sideways ver-r-r-r-y carefully when all excited and unaware of how fragile the whole thing was didn't work out very well. The zipper was the first to go, and I ended up duct taping the surrounding area over and over, which looked terrible and still didn't catch all the freakin leaks.

And leaks are definitely a problem. When you start a shop vac up and most of the air is sucked out of the frame around the person in it, a leak will produce an extremely high-pitched and LOUD squeal, which is not remotely conducive to relaxation for anyone in the room. I'd be scrambling to track down the source of the leak, roll of duct tape in hand, trying to keep an eye on how someone was responding to their first time in full-surround latex (minus the feet which were covered by socks), and it was irritating as hell.

Toenails were also a problem. Most men do not take care of their feet at all, and unless someone had trimmed their nails thoroughly within a few days of their session, the long and jagged toenails poked and scraped at the very thin latex. I ended up making people wear socks while they were in it just to save wear and tear on the latex.

Faces - specifically, noses - are a problem in a vac bed. You get the air hole over the mouth, which is fine, but then all that pressure on the nose can be very uncomfortable for some people. It wasn't necessarily the bigger noses that felt more pressure. I think if vac beds were constructed so that there was a looser area to fit over the face, that problem would be mitigated.

The person who bought the vac bed I had bartered it for sessions. I'd told him I'd trade X sessions for a bed, but didn't specify which bed. This was about 8-9 years ago. He got the cheapest one he could find and it tore the first time we used it, on the exit. Next time I get one, I'll do a lot of shopping around and research. I think one of the cubes would be better/easier to use than a flat vac bed.

MsSaskia, I know that www.vacbed.com sells really well made vacbeds.  Last I checked, vacbed.com charged $385 for single color themes.  More than one color raised the prices up, depending on the complexity of the color scheme.  There's no need to spend more than $450 on a vacbed...the places that sell them over that price are just rip-off artists.

I hope this helps.....

Lucylastic -> RE: Vacbeds (2/29/2008 1:35:07 PM)

I got mine from ebay about six years ago for 200$, yeh but  its NOT latex, its a waterbed mattress cover with 2 inch plastic pipe as a frame,  once we got it up and running (it took a bit of adjustment of pipes leading to the vaccuum)  and figured out how to seal the envelope,  we had and have a lot of fun in it.  While I would prefer latex:) It works for long term play, altho we are usually swapping in and out to get into anything more than an hour or so. We use a pair of headphones to drown out the sound of the vaccuum. We havent had any problems with tearing, probably cos its a lot thicker than reg latex, Ms Saskia mentioned the nose issue, I had problems with that myself, it actually was sore for a while, but I was floating quite happily  to take much notice, altho I did try and breath out of my nose a few times in the beginnning it screwed up the suction around the hose into my mouth. The feeling of being unable to move is different to being in other kinds of bondage, in as much that its a flexible frame but tight around you, mmmmmmmmmm so tight, so dark, so sensual,  being played with thru it is delicious,  and playing with him thru it is delicious. mmm now I wanna go play again.
Clean up is pretty care free, not so intensive as latex is...but yes I do want a latex one one day. We took it to a lifestyle event in a hockey bag and set it up in our room with a mini vac, and about six people tried it out, only one didnt like the feeling of claustrophobia of having her head encased or the fact that she had to breath thru a tube.
(disclaimer)Be safe tho, the breath breath control aspect,and  ability to speak or move is hampered if not impossible so never leave someone alone in one.but yes yes lots of fun... yummm
just my thoughts:)
Lucy

That's good to know, thanks!

rubberpet -> RE: Vacbeds (3/1/2008 12:16:43 PM)

You are more than welcome, MsSaskia.  I've been sealed in one from vacbed.com and it is really well made.  If you get one from them, you are sure to love it.

Ah...rubber!  *wipes away the drool*  [:D]

Fnordstrum -> RE: Vacbeds (3/3/2008 8:01:02 AM)

I've wanted a vacbed ever since I first found out about them however many years ago, it seems like it'd be seriously awesome to play with.... If only they weren't so expensive.

Fnord.

frenchdungeon -> RE: Vacbeds (3/3/2008 9:21:14 AM)

i must agree with, Fnordstrum

to own a vacbed would be great, but the price compared to the use of it

just not sure if i wanna klutter my dungeon, with a large item like that

PinkDice -> RE: Vacbeds (3/3/2008 9:46:30 AM)

This is a subject very near and dear to me. Tight bondage just does it for me. Someone I met at my local munch has one, but alas, it is latex. (Stupid, stupid allergy.) They have beds made of silicone and various other materials, but I have heard many swear that nothing feels nearly as awesome as the beds made from latex. *SIGH* I have done a lot of browsing and looking for design plans, as it seems cost efficient to construct it myself. I will report back if I find anything that looks promising.

Catman2010 -> RE: Vacbeds (3/4/2008 7:57:10 PM)

Ouch, that sucks about latex. I've never actually been able to do anything with latex, but I've wanted to. Of course, I'm still new to this stuff, but am looking to expand my experiences.

MistressNHerToy -> RE: Vacbeds (3/5/2008 8:14:28 PM)

We just got a vacbed and it's amazing!  We bought a whole lot of bondage equipment from someone on Craigslist for an awesome price.  The vacbed was alost a throw in because we thought for sure it would have leaks.  But it works awesome and unless you've been in one you can't really describe the feeling.  I highly recommend it to anyone into sensory deprivation.

Catman2010 -> RE: Vacbeds (3/6/2008 8:15:31 PM)

I am jealous. Hope you're putting it to good use.

bobinchains -> RE: Vacbeds (3/6/2008 9:58:56 PM)

Most of the vacbeds i've had the opportunity to play in, did not keep a tight seal. The vacuum had to run continuously, however I did see one once that was airtight and had an air valve that worked fairly well.
Be sure to ask the retailer if it will remain airtight with the vacuum off.
