LadyHathor -> Going Christian (2/28/2008 10:14:21 AM)

Ok, I don't get this--I have heard from more than a few subs lately, that they started out with Dominants who after a year or so, "got religion" as they say and pffttt left the life--so I know we all chatted when I posted the thread about spirituality and WIITWD residing side by side-- and I got some great notes from many who like Me are Ministers or going to school for it---

waht's with starting out then not thinking these two can reside with in a relationship??

How many more  are out there that have had this happen?

LadyEllen -> RE: Going Christian (2/28/2008 10:32:46 AM)

Say you got a sub who was fine at first and then became a right pain in the neck, but you didnt have the courage to tell him you were no longer interested?

You could "move to Antarctica" or you could "find religion"; whatever it takes to put the sub off.

Not a method I'd suggest, but one that some might adopt?

Spirituality can easily co-exist as far as i am concerned..the only thing i don't appreciate is when it is beat into the ground and said parties are trying to beat it into my skull.I have alot of different views on different things but what do you expect...i was raised freakin Catholic.

DiurnalVampire -> RE: Going Christian (2/28/2008 10:52:04 AM)

Christianity might lead to some limits on play, but overall most of the subs I know personally (including my own 2) have reconsiled it nicely. Granted, some people might see it as being conflicting, especialy if they try and go the whole the bible says women should be sub not men route, but those are usualy the ones looking for an excuse to get out and who find a religious one gets them fewer arguments than any others. Angel is a Christian misionary, is very very involved in his church ad is my slave for nearly 2 years. He initialy had some issues with the coexistance, but all it took was some renegotiation of limits, not actualy leaving to make them work.

Onward Christian Who-o-o-oremongers;
Marching as to War.....

There really isn't alot of prohibitions against any kind of sex in the bible.

Little here and there, but not like it's been made out to be.

This is true!  I am a Christian and I do not consider Myself to lead a hedonistic lifestyle.  A respectful household arrangement has nothing to do with anything immoral and BDSM as a sexual expression is not forbidden so far as I can see.
I do expect that some may be searching for something and if they stumble upon a certain religious sect that speaks against any form of sex other than the missionary position for procreation, and this can cause confusion and may oblige some to step away.  But if they are searching, then they might never have been very confident or well rounded in the first place.  JMO, of course.
OTOH, I often find Myself feeling that some folks use BDSM as their personal form of  "religion".  Almost a rebellious kind of thing.
And I like LadyEllen's possibility too!  [;)]

Jeffff -> RE: Going Christian (2/28/2008 12:07:41 PM)

Yeah, basically you get the, "tho shalt not lie with another man"

And the, " if tho lies with a woman on the rag let them both be banished"

Dearest Dusty,

While I am in no wise christian, this is the truth of it, what you had written, and if the most part of the 'saved and lovin' every minute of jesus' people would read their book.......they would find out they have accepted many things that are not in there, are different than they've been told, or are manifestly opposite to what is in there.

Faith without works is dead, so RTFM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (that would be the works part)

LOL.
Admiringly,
Ron

RTFM?

azropedntied -> RE: Going Christian (2/28/2008 5:36:03 PM)

why the two can not co-exist is odd to me , nor would i ever change who i am  not that i would want to anyway .Reminds me of bible brainwashing to rid gay thoughts in your head turning  people straight .If the woman did not wanna see the person any further  just say so , or keep washing your hair ,visit  the dead auntie for the 5th time whatever .. Lies to others deception's lie'n to ones self  shrugs i dunno .. For me i am this way i have always been this way nothing is going to change that nor do i wish it to ,no matter what my religious studies are .Or  outside influences for that matter .

vampchick88 -> RE: Going Christian (2/28/2008 6:19:03 PM)

I've been Christian for years now, I'm not sure why they've said its impacted the lifestyle. To me they're both part of who I am. Just because your a Domme, Dom, sub, slave, switch, etc doesn't mean you have to be Christian, Wiccian, Satanic, etc. Everyone has the right to their own belief after all its why we're here to begin with.

alittlebent -> RE: Going Christian (2/28/2008 7:12:28 PM)

i believe you can be Christian and also live the Lifestyle. As a submissive male, i am very active in my church and also serve Mistress, who while having a strong belief system, is not Christian. i believe God loves us all and made us the way W/we are, the problems arise only when W/we try to impose our religous beliefs on others. i believe in professing my faith but do not brow beat anyone with it but respect their rights to believe or not.

If somebody isn't mature enough to break up honestly with somebody, then they're not mature enough to be in a relationship with somebody in the first place, IMNAAHO.

TermsConditions -> RE: Going Christian (3/3/2008 6:32:25 AM)

This thread popped up again. Previously I had the good sense not to post the following.

It is Lent and it's suprising that no one has brought up the masochistic / bondage imagery of the suffering and crucifixion story. Regardless of the spiritual context, there's a whip, and a cross, bondage and humiliation, leather-clad Centurians, etc, etc.

One (I) would expect a potential for a twisted conduit of kinkiness between some students of Christianity and BSDM.

Does that expectation resonate with anyone else? Or should I just wait on the hate mail? :-)
