Well, probably the New Orleans problem could have been avoided if the country had taken Trent Lott's (Mississippi) and elected Strom Thurmond president in 1948.

[sad sad chuckle]

Just trying to give Mississippi politics equal time

Actually, I'm a transplant. I was born in Boston but taught in the College of Journalism at The University of Southern Miss.

Now I'm in Florida... the blue part

Hey John, is it me, or is Boston/MA incredibly conservative despite all the universities there? M

Legally it is. For example, the law in Massachusetts rules out consent as a defense and rules a whole bunch of things obscene.

However, in practice, it's a mix. I ran a prosub/prodom business for 18 months and aside from some visits to make sure it wasn't a cover for prostitution, the cops left me alone. The zoning closed me down eventually.

The semiannual Fetish Flea Market draws about 2,000 people per day and there are several active BDSM organizations.
