I will preface this by saying that I am impressed by the width and breadth of knowledge expressed here. I respect everyone here even if I disagree with them vehemently, Hillary supporters for example :-) I said that because I want y'all to lighten up, just relax a bit. Take time before you respond, because this is a big one.
We have armchair quarterbacks, psychologists, electricians (there's a dangerous one) and who knows what else. The term is sometimes taken to mean incompetent, but so is amateur. Realize this, there is only one definition of professional, it means you get paid. That is all. YOU are the one who reads competence into the term.
That said, back to the point.
I named this thread, and I put a number one on the end. The reason I did that is because if everybody can be cool, we can have some good discussion. In that light, on the subject I am about to bring up, I would welcome any and all opinions from people in the know about the subject, and the armchaitrs as well. I am an armchair type, I have no experience in a couple of different areas. But that doesn't mean my ideas are not valid.
So now without injecting anything at all into this, war veterans, ex-Generals and the like as well as the commoner like me, answer me this.
What do you think would happen if we pulled all of our military bases out of all countries, period. Pull everything home.
I am talking everywhere.
I am talking defend this country only.
Tear it up, but please please do not tear each other up. Forget oneupsmanship, so what you are right, can't you be calm ? What have you never been right before or something ?

If you don't mind, I am not interested in this little point or that, which the other person should have Googled for before posting. A hundred and fifty pages of quotes is not the goal of a discussion forum. And on this forum there are people in the know, who have at least been in or studied the military and have good solid answers.
A side note, I wish they would remove the quote feature, make people do it through windows or whatever OS they have.
Enough on that, what would happen if we closed all of our military bases all over the world ?
Think about that, and also think about the fact that if you are actively posting on this board you are most unlikely to be involved in anything military or anything like that. That makes you armchair, just like me.
If you think I am not a realist think again. We bring home EVERYBODY and you know they will have to be fed, housed and all that.
So, what if it happened ? If I were President it might. Pull out of everywhere, bring all the boys home. Actually speculation on what would happen in the aftermath might be interesting as well.
What if it really did happen ?
