Chuck Shepherd's News of the Weird (.898)

WEEK OF APRIL 24, 2005

LEAD STORY

Ivy League Blues: In March, a Princeton University graduate student in applied mathematics, Michael Lohman, was arrested, suspected by police of being the guy who has been assaulting Asian women on campus for weeks by snipping locks of their hair or by furtively doctoring their drinks with unspecified "bodily fluids" in the dining hall. And a week after that, in Rockport, Mass., a chaired professor of economics at Harvard, Martin Weitzman, was charged with larceny after a farmer said Weitzman has long been trespassing and hauling away manure for his own nearby farm, thus denying the farmer his market price of $35 per truckload. [New York Post, 4-6-05] [Boston Herald, 4-6-05]

I guess there are people that do wierd things.
These 2 really take Collage to a new level.[:)]

Not what I went to Collage for~[&:]

Sincerely, Ant[;)]

SirKenin -> RE: Not what Collage was for. (9/22/2005 10:10:42 AM)

Ignore him hun. It is easy to tell what type of person he is when he has nothing uselful to contribute, yet he has to open his yap to say something detrimental to someone else. Believe it or not, it is people like that that generally have no self esteem and just look to boost it at the expense of others.

W/we all know what you meant, so no worries.

DesertRat -> RE: Not what Collage was for. (9/22/2005 10:11:26 AM)

Yeah, some of us notice spelling and punctuation and might actually expect someone who went to college to be able to spell it.

[shaking head sadly] No, no, he clearly said he had "half a life." I guess you only need a fraction.

how about if they went to beauty college?

No, no, he clearly said he had "half a life."

Perhaps that means he's radioactive. That would explain a lot.

pinkpleasures -> RE: Not what Collage was for. (9/22/2005 11:21:35 AM)

No one has explained what college is for. So lemme tell you, from the perscpective of both attendee and mom of attendee:

1. screwing off -- lots and lots of screwing off, however that plays out but you must drink alcohol in mass quantities. Points for skinny dipping; using an illegal drug; not cleaning house; moving alot (like every quarter); and cat fights.

2. draining your parents of money. my kid's car was 6 yrs old and i paid to replace parts i did not even know cars had. Also, i gave my kid a $500 credit card for EMERGENCIES and she kept maxing it out on clothing emergencies; shoe emergncies; etc. so i took it away.

3. going as deeply in debt as possible. Once i cut off the kid from the credit card she was inundated with offers, which she accepted, for credit cards and graduated in a deep well of debt.

4. change majors as many times as possible and drag out college to five or six years; and still graduate without skills to market.

5. engage in behavior designed to horrify your parents. My kid pierced her tounge (which did not last long); cut of her flowing mane of blonde hair and dyed it mahgoney red; moved in to a bad neighborhood to save on rent; etc.

College is where many (not all; maybe not most) adolescents turn into adults after drunk driving, hitchhicking, missing entire terms' worth of classes, etc.

However, college is a removal system to get a teenager out of your house. Anyone who has lived with or does live with a teenager probably knows that a parent counts the months until the know-it-all leaves home.

p.s. The know-it-all turns into a lovely, bright, sweet woman slowly as she moves up through the college levels.

Or maybe he was saying something about the game half-life. Maybe the poster who is involved in this game could throw a light on this (I really don't understand why they needed an actor for a game, in the first place, so it's very confusing for me).

SirKenin -> RE: Not what Collage was for. (9/22/2005 11:26:28 AM)

Half Life 2 owns you. Yes. That must have been what I was saying. Now somebody give Me a gun so I can kick some alien ass. [:D]

Just HALf of it, that's all I could find here, but it's the essential files.

SirKenin -> RE: Not what Collage was for. (9/22/2005 5:16:29 PM)

That's not even Half Life 2!! [:o] That one was good, but the second one is sooooo much better. http://www.ati.com/gitg/promotions/halflife2demo/

Out of curiosity, does anyone know what half life means?

It's a physics term. It's the length of time that a radioactive element takes to lose half of its radioactive output.

Since the process is a halving, an element may be dangerous for a number of half-lives
