This is the part I don't understand. What do you mean by "No one is fooled"? Why do you assume that someone is trying to fool you?

Just let people be people. If they want to put "under consideration" on their profile, let them--even if you can't understand why they would do it. Banks will still be open on Monday.

That reminds me: I went to Sam's Club today and made a point of looking to see what imported cheeses they had. Very good selection, medium-to-good quality. They had edam, gouda, gruyere, emmentaler, chevre, mozzarella, feta--just about any obvious cheese you could think of. The two brie choices that I could see were Alouette and Ile de France.

Not bad... but all of them are pasteurized. You're missing all the unpasteurized cheeses, like Camembert/Livarot (these villages are 15 km apart, but there is quite a difference between their cheeses), Comté, Tomme (des Pyrénées, de Savoie...), bleu (d'Auvergne, Roquefort...)... and also what homecooking calls "true" brie. Addicts can still go around the legislation and have their cheese sent directly by mail, for example via some websites.

I can tell you, there's cheese, wine and bread in heaven.

I've never had any kind of collar.

I agree with Lord & Master on this one. Why not just let people be who they are, and do what they do. The truth of the matter is that you can have a zillion years of experience and think you have seen everything, but if you don't know they people in question, you probably don't know anything at all.

Even if they are making a huge mistake ... it's their life and those mistakes are theirs to make.

I think it makes a bit of sense in defining the "getting to know you" phase of a relationship. So I can almost understand how folks who are into formality and ritual might like it.

I think you've hit it on the button. During that initial getting to know you period, I'll allow the prospective collar to inform people that he/she/they are part of My family. the only ones who may try (off line) to snaffle them or cause them problems, usually know me or know of me and know that there is a good back up ststem with a long arm to protect the new person. Once we have got to know each other and they have shown a genuine interest and willingness to be trained and live/work within my system and my home, he/she/they will sit down with Lady Neets and I and have a serious open discussion about where they go from there. If this workes out well, he/she/thay are offered a House Collar. As such they are owned by the House Iron Bear i.e. jointly by Lady Neets and I. In their initial period they commence training so that they may both serve etc in the manner which we wish them to. Again this is the next phase of getting to know each other in a deeper level. from there on it is dependent on several factors if he/she/they will be offered a Personal Collar from lady Neets or I or if the harmony and dynamics will show that they will be better off remaining in a House Collar. Its a simple fact that some prefer from the start to me owned by a Master and a Mistress. I like to evaluate the dynamics and the harmonics of relationships to maintain the best levels..... happy slaves/happy Master & Mistress = Happy House. (Hard, discliplined and well organised, but happy).

Yeah, I don't remember seeing any Camembert at all, come to think of it. There was Roquefort, but it's not my thing, so I didn't look at the label. I think there was gorgonzola, too. There was a ton of domestic cheese, but it all tends to be stuff like Colby.

Oh how true! Unpasturized cheeses are the best! They have the most flavor and age to be ripe and smelly. The best cheeses I have ever tasted had were when I was in Paris and visited the cheese shops there. It was like walking into heaven! Nothing like a nice hot loaf of french bread right from the boulangerie at day break smothered with a nice ripe, unpasturized goat cheese....ummmm.

I think bread and cheese should be "under consideration"

my man suggested a collar for my sis sub to wear (temp claim collar - not THE collar), she kinda flipped out... i suppose that was a little hint of what she didnt eventually want - dont think she understood the idea of those play collars. Thought i'd just mention this for no good reason.

I think it makes a bit of sense in defining the "getting to know you" phase of a relationship. So I can almost understand how folks who are into formality and ritual might like it.

However, I think it is inherently dopey because it implies that the sub is the only one under consideration and must prove herself "worthy". UGH! That should be a two way street. So to me the term does sort of reek of desperation or gullibility on the sub's part.

I so agree with you happy. The thing that gets me is the dominants who think that because they claim the title of dominant, they don't need to prove themselves worthy. Even for those who are not looking for an intimate relationship, but just that "dom/sub" or "master/slave" thing that is supposed to have no emotions (which I REALLY don't get), each still needs to consider whether or not the other is someone they want to spend time with.

I think there can be a multitude of reasons for putting that in the profile, so many of which are mentioned here. I think, though, that it would be very cool if the dominants also put something on THEIR profile. Something similar to "I am considering someone at the moment..." Would kind of level that playing field wouldn't it?

The thing I understand even less is the dom profiles stating they are taking "applications" or "write to request an interview". Now I saw above where LadiesBladewing do that, but it appears that they are offering something totally different where it makes some degree of sense. I am speaking more of the ones who follow up those statements with others regarding their search for a "life partner". When I see those kinds of profiles, it is easy for me to see why they are still searching.

my man changed his profile to say 'taken' as soon as he found the two subs he was searching for. I think it only fair that if a sub/slave is exclusive to a person (under consideration) then that dom/me should do the same.

Has this happened to you?

Every now and then, while I'm browsing profiles, I see someone who has put on their profile that they are "under consideration". Now, obviously, being that I've been around for a while, I know what that means - but does it strike anyone else as the poor person who is "under consideration" is being mislead?

Well, my profile says I'm "evaluating" my submissive, (and I am lol) but I supppose that in the obverse he could say in his profile that he is "under consideration." Is there an on-line connotation I'm not aware of? We have been together, developing our real-time relationship, (yes, all those yummy physical things) for seven months now. I'm clear that I'm not seeking, at the moment, and he's no longer on this site.

But a collar is a committment from the dominant, as well as the submissive. So I personally don't see a period of evaluation or consideration before making that committment as a bad thing.

It's "oldcheese", a norwegian thing. It's a bit smelly :). Are you from Norway Mnottertail ?
I see your profile says you're from Minnesooota, so quite likely of swedish descent ?

When and if I have a trik being looked at, that will be reflected in her online profile. If she is in either My House Collar or in my personal Collar that will be shown in her profile and if she is fg (First Girl) that too will be in her profile as will any restrictions I have imposed on her. In my profile all in both House and Personal Collars will be listed. It just makes it easier for on line, CM friends to know what is happening......

This is Ds, this isn't about fairness, this isn't about "leveling a playing field."

It's about getting to know someone else to see if you're compatible with eachother for the relationship you're interested in having. And, as the sub/slave, if you accept the rules of the dom, then you accept the rules of the dom. If you want things FAIR, if you want things to be the same on both sides, that's vanilla.

Now, of course it's not wrong if the dom chooses to pronounce it on his/her profile as well. I'm simply confused why so many people are concerned about "fairness" when obviously any sub/dom IN this situation is perfectly ok with just the sub putting it in their profile AND if the people involved are so caught up in what their PROFILES are saying, to me that says there are deeper issues going on here that need to get worked out before ANYTHING else goes further.

Like I said before, IDEALLY, the "period of consideration" is an excellent one, and in reality, is one that we all should undertake, whether we formally announce it or ritualize it or symbolize it or not.

The reality is that most people use it as a playing card game to manipulate. But, as long as everyone is happy playing that card game, doms and subs, we really have nothing to intefere on.
