We met by chance all those years ago In a place of likeminded folk The friendship there in an instant Two sides of a coin naturally so Years passed, still the spark was there The bond ever growing , strength to strength Through good times and bad, happy and sad Nights and days of mutual care Then that day in June when first I saw My sweet Irish blonde, suitcase in tow Searching for Me, looking high and low While at the car I stood wishing I could do more That first touch, that first fleeting kiss Mumbled words of welcome, nerves showing so The drive home, I could feel her stress Yet even with that, for Me it was sheer bliss On a rainy winter's night as we prepared for bed So nervous so embarassed she was Knowing not where to look, what should be said. Her hands shaking, her cheeks constantly so red 24 days of laughter happiness and fun 24 nights of ecstasy as we learned from each other True comfort and being at ease All too soon though, our time was done And as I watched her swallowed up by the terminal gates Though I had so many regrets, time wasted time lost I had no regrets at all she'd come, no regrets at all For the future is the future and will be told by the fates I knew at that moment that this wasn't the end But rather a beginning on that you may depend For no matter what happens she'll always be Mine My sweet Irish blonde so beautiful, so fine
