GAH!!

For the past year or so, I've been juggling my bills.  I am SERIOUSLY underpaid for my job.

Today, I got a notice that my phone is being cut off until I pay almost $500. for back payments.
My electric bill is behind.
so is my internet/storage, and a few others.  All because I need to juggle from month to month.
I also owe my employer (as of this moment) $80.00.

Yes, I understand that my money management skills need some work../. but I also understand that all the money mgt skills in the world aint gonna help if ya DO NOT MAKE ENOUGH to cover stuff.

*bleah*

So I am looking for a second job.

\end rant\cryabyin\bitchpissmoaning

just needed to get that out..LOL

You dont suppose that your dollar only being worth half as much as it was in the year 2001 has anything to do with it do you?

I mean you got a raise and are making twice as much now as you were in 2001 to make up for inflation didnt you?

Well neither did a lot of other people!   Good reason to vote for ron paul imo.

While I do not know the intimate details of your budget the point I am making is that your government isnt doing a very good job of managing YOUR budget either.

Marc2b -> RE: venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/3/2008 7:18:42 AM)

I feel for ya. There was a period in my life when I survived on macaroni and cheese (generic brand, no fancy Kraft stuff for me) made with water instead of milk, and my only entertainment came from the library.

This is a case of simple but not easy. The problem has been identified – not enough money. The solution has been identified – make more money. Now comes the hard part, getting there from here. The first thing you must do, of course, is cut back expenses. No unnecessary spending. Do you really need cable TV? What about your Internet connection? I’m loath to suggest that since it would deprive us here at CM of the pleasure of your company but it is all a matter of priorities. Even the little things add up. If you’re driving home and you’re thirsty, ask yourself if you really need to stop at the convenience store for a Diet Coke, or if you can wait to you get home and have a glass of water.

Cutting back expenses, however, is just the first step. If you are not getting paid market value for your services then it’s time to start looking for another job. If you can’t find one in your area consider changing careers – a variety of financial help is available for those who want to return to college. Even some night courses at a community college can go along way.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that you must be pro-active. It’s your life – take charge of it.

Good luck and best wishes.

Don’t be to quick to exalt the Canadian system because it appears that quite a bit falls under the term "elective." I live only twenty minutes from the border and it is quite common around here to see Canadian licence plates at the doctor’s offices.

MissHarlet -> RE: venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/3/2008 7:27:50 AM)

Seriously research places where the cost of living is lower ... it may mean major moves .. but in the long run can make a major change in your quality of life .... Its not easy but it often better than working 2 or 3 jobs and still worrying about " what utility will get cut off this month" ...... moving and starting over can be an adventure .. you are young and can open doors that you have yet to imagine ...

GreedyTop -> RE: venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/3/2008 7:29:26 AM)

Marc.. I don't pay for cable.  Internet, if I have to I can let it go (I have access at work). I can bring food (breakfast stuff) home from work.
I'm looking for a second job (got a line on one nearby).
Eh.. things will work out somehow...

MissHarlet -> RE: venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/3/2008 7:41:04 AM)

Greedy ...its frustrateing when you know you are doing your best and it is still this way .. just keep on doing your best .. you will get thru it sooner or later ....and it seems to me by reading this that you have lots of friends pulling for you ... and the universe always recognizes that positive energy ... at least in my beliefs it does

GreedyTop -> RE: venting for a moment.. feel free to ignore me (3/3/2008 7:54:49 AM)

thanks, everyone :)  It's lovely to feel the positive energy from you all!  Thank you!
