OK, let's put this another way. Once you get the cat to train you to do what it wants it will come to you. It will come to you when it is good and ready, but if you have learned well good and ready will come sooner, perhaps even immediately. Actually I found that I almost never seemed to have to call a cat, when I walked in the door there they were. Perhaps it was the superior training I had. My buddy Chip. He learned to navigate me, as a kitten he got up on the back of my couch and then got on my shoulder. He was really young but we let them out of the box, we wanted good cats, well socialised. There were cleanups but it wasn't too bad. Well Chip decided to stay on my shoulder as I got up one day. As time went by he learned how not to dig into my shoulder anymore (we do not declaw, or well, not back then). We walked aroung the house and I am sure he thought this was a cool ride. Sometimes I would look at him and say "Which way ?" and follow his head movement. I am sure this freaked him out. He returned the favor by having kittens. I wonder how much that is a mile ? And then there's Bob next door, he is some kind of cat dog hybrid or something. We call him a Kdog. When I first saw this post I thought maybe I could ask how to get a cat to leave you alone ? OMG I just realized this, and I am not bullshitting. Hunter taught Bob the kdog to give paw. Of course Bob somply sees this as a way of communication and is willing. Well Hunter does not live alone and I went over the other day to see the others. Well Bobo perched himself on the arm of the couch. I did not realize at the time because I am trying to talk to people, that Bob was holding out his paw, again and again. You get this ? Bob was trying to teach ME to give paw. We call Bob a Kdog because of the way he is, he can bark I hear, and he does a few other doglike things. He would be the perfect cat for a dog person. (want him ? ) I have heard his meow and I believe this, in fact I think Bob would be a very good candidate to be taught to be a talking cat, or Kdog whatever. He certainly wants to communicate. T
