Does this mean Bill is backing Barack? - 3/3/2008 6:58:10 PM

Status: offline 		       There has been a fair bit of news lately about Hillary's "3 a.m." commercial (youtube video of it here).  Pretty obvious fear tactic.  I guess she hasn't been paying much attention to her husband's rulebook though, because somebody dug up a doozy from him on the '04 campaign.

"One of Clinton's laws of politics is, if one candidate is trying to scare you, and the other one is trying to make you think, if one candidate's appealing to your fears, and the other one's appealing to your hopes,'' he said. "You better vote for the person who wants you to think and hope.''

      Wouldn't this seem to imply that Bill needs to get out front for Barak?  Or is just another piece of evidence that the only value that matters to them is power?

Must suck to be backhanded by your own husband and not even know about it. That was a slap 4 years in coming.

She would have to step totally aside. She is unelectable in any position on the ticket. If she values the party she could be an incredible galvanizing presence....Doesn't look like it is in her makeup.

It just keeps getting better and better.

Status: offline 		Does Barack believe in anything? He seems an all things to all men sort of guy. Plenty of polished chrome on his car but no engine. Just taking a look at his site, he's going to do an awful lot while keeping fiscal discipline, it just doesn't add up. But then I guess, he doesn't seem to be being asked any pertinent questions by those people that plan to support him, they are just hoping this time, this guy is different. Not a great way to vote for change, as the Brits found out when they voted for Tony Blair.

If the guy sounds vacuous, he usually is and Barack sounds every bit as vacuous as Tony Blair souunded. Though I have to admit, they are both articulate when it comes to being vacuous.

I personally think the Republican's want her to win so much because she will galvanize that party to rise up together to destroy the Evil That Is Hillary.  If Obama wins, a huge percentage of the Republican party will stay home or vote for him.

On the other hand, if you look at previous voter turnouts in this election, the real spoiler in this election are not the "swing vote," it is the 18 to 35 year olds, who are turning out in record numbers (in the history of American politics) to vote almost overwhelmingly for Barak Obama.  This was so unforeseen that no reputable polling apparatus is in place to give poll numbers that have any relevance to the reality of who the public are voting for in this election.

Where this will really be felt, like a good, swift kick to the gonads, are all of the senators and representatives and city council people and governors and state legislators and voter initiatives that are on the chopping block, because all of these will be voted for and against from a voting bloc which nobody expected would happen, nobody marketed or polled or considered how to speak to them and get them on one's side, who are turning out in record numbers to vote.

2004 was the "yer fired" election, which saw the first tolling of the first death bell for the Corporatocracy.

2008 is the year the young people flex their power in ways not seen since the 1960s, resulting in the irrelevancy of the Republican party (as it joins the Democrats and the Christian Right start their own party) and it will color the political landscape for a generation.

       I'm curious why you would think that Republicans would turn out in huge numbers to vote for an extremely liberal person.  If you think the motivation would be to sweep back into Congressional power in '10 and the White House in '12, Hillary would be far more likely to produce that result.
