~fr~ If you are truly distressed, and feel you have no candidate for whom to vote, then write in a vote for the person you feel would do the best job. Perhaps another candidate who has dropped out of the race? I will be doing a write in vote. It is an option that many prefer not to use as they feel they are throwing their vote away. So, as said, you must go with your heart.
I am surprised to hear that Mickey Mouse actually got 22,000 write-ins. I didn't think anyone would have the nerve to actually publish it! Alas, it is also a sign that there is not enough disgust out there yet since he only garnered 22,000.
One of these days he is going to get elected! And we will probably be better off!

I know one thing now. I know I am not voting for McCain. I don't want a continuation of this war which over spending and over use of natural resources and not to mention more lives cost on our troops part. I will suck it up and vote for the Democrat. I find myself pulling for Hillary, and impressed she pulled off Texas. I just want someone in there who will set a timeline for troop withdrawal and get our economy back on track.

If the two-party system doesn't give you a candidate you can vote for in good conscience, it's time to vote third-party.

Remember- "lesser of two evils" is barely adequate justification for choosing a restaurant. For selecting the Chief Executive of a major world power, it's shameful.

i had hopes for Ron Paul, but the media and the GOP shut him out quite thoroughly. So, i'll be voting Libertarian again.

One of the real problems with the populace at large is that lack of people who bother to vote for anyone. In the 2004 Presidential Elections (traditionally the highest voter turnout year is a Presidential Election year) there were 215,000,000 people in the US eligible to vote. Of those only 142,000,000 registered and of those registered 125,000,000 million voted.

The complete Census Bureau statstics on the 2004 vote can be found at

Bush received 69,000,000 million votes in the 2004 general election.

Compare that to the potential of 215,000,000 eligible to vote and you see that only 32% of eligible voters acutally cast a vote for our sitting President.

The president has the power of veto… He leads in legislation and budget so even if you don’t like your party’s choice for president don’t split parties unless you like 4 more years of legislative gridlock.

Personally, since i'm not especially fond of either party, i'm a fan of gridlock

When the legislature gets moving, i always seem to lose money, freedom, or both...

Hello MissSCD,

This is shaping up to be one of those elections where I wish I could just vote "No." Start over. Give us something better. No dice. I know that a lot of people want George Bush out of office promptly on time, if not sooner. But I can't churn up enough angst over it to think it's worth this, no matter which of these candidates ends up being our next President.

The system has been broken for quite sometime. People just don't care when they promises are made and then forgotten. Special interests and huge corporations run this country, not the people. Plus, the US is far to big to be governed by one central government. Maybe a few smaller countries and tie them together into a confederacy of sorts, still be America, give the country a purpose again. Fuck Congress and the Supreme Court and The President. Dismantle the corporations, ban special interests, build a new capital in the middle of the country. Do something different. I am done ranting now.

I wish our third party system worked; however, without delegates, there is no use to vote. All of the information I have been studying has put me in the Third Party, but there are no delegates. No delegates, No President.

I feel for Americans as it doesn't seem to be any sort of choice, and can understand anyone who is seriously considering not voting. It's a bit like choosing a builder after your house has been wrecked.

Personally I'd go for Hillary Clinton, as I feel that she would do much to restore more positive opinions on Americans in the eyes of the world and that given the chance she could do a decent job of turning things round.

You must remember stella...it is our fault... we supported and re-elected the house wreckers...It's not us poor Americans....we got what we deserved and voted for. I'm a firm believer that the people of a country must always be held accountable. It makes no difference if it is an open or closed society...they get what they allow. Despite the American interference the Iraqi people are getting what they allow and deserve. That goes for Israel and Palestine...and the UK…and especially Korea and Iran.

True. But I still feel that Hillary Clinton needs to move on past Obama and she would do much to help restore things the way they were before. Americans came together wonderfully during Katrina and it's hoped they can do so again.

The last thing Americans need right now is a totalitarian regime.
