Alright folks...Our new place is having a halloween party. Now I thought, hmmm..what costume will I put together to wear..But, I just found out that I might not be able to wear that..It came to my attention that it will be a "Black Cotillion". What would be the proper attire for the occasion? Being a fairy just might not get it..I need to plan..

Respectfully,
sultry

Why not a Goth Fairy? That would look sooo awesome, all in Black.
Or a Southern Belle....one of those dresses, black and red....

Good luck deciding what to wear!!!!

The only rule for halloween is that anything goes. Fairies would be awesome!

For Halloween you have your traditional sexy costumes: nurses, maids, vamps, etc.

You have your sexified innocent costumes: little red riding hood and fairy tale characters et. al., little girl looks, angels, princesses etc.

And you have your all out fetish gear: all the latex, leather and pvc you can imagine.

And of course there's the traditional ones, the monsters, the spooks, the ghouls, the animals.

This year I'm wearing blue jeans, sneakers, white tshirt and my hair in a ponytail. This is something I NEVER wear to a party or dungeon. On the t-shirt will say "Monogamous Vanilla Heterosexual"

For a cotillion, a hoop dress would be perfect, or go as a Wild West whore or a cowgirl.

Last year I went as the easter bunny and the year before that I was Little Red Riding Hood with a basket full of condoms.

Go with a costume that expresses something unique and fascinating about yourself, go with something that will make you feel absolutely IN costume for the night.

PS It's also EXTREMELY rare that I wear black and red to a club/party. In fact my friends tease me about it when I DO wear black and red because I'm always against it.

Of course you could break out your Broomstick and check if your BRL (Broomstick Riding Licence) is still valid. Scrub out the couldron and mix a batch of green bubbling, smoking brew which is at least 110 Proof and there you are! Dont forget the pointy kat with a condom over the point (never know who you want to poke or where they've been and a good riding crop. 3

Me? I'm off to celebrate Samhuin with my people. People dancing niked about a bale fire (Shees its winter here) and me covered in Wode.

Just the word Cotillion gives me nightmares of elbow gloves, hoop skirts & bowing to the floor praying that I don't fall on my face or anything else.
Everyone LOVES making fun of a southern belle so much I think you might start there. Emerald's idea of openly mocking what you find humorous is an idea of where to take the belle. Seeing as belles (think scarlette o hara) were the orignal out of the closet Dommes (at least in the south) the all white pure vanilla frosted idea of a belle mixed with a bondage theme might be a way to go.
I personally think that black & red are overdone for halloween. If you're most comfortable as a fairy DO IT!!! If you're that worried about what others think then contact someone on the planning committee & pick their brain.

My second wife who was a top show girl/stripper used to make hooped dresses for a Southern Belle act by starting off with a net we used for crabbing. Essentially it was one steel hoop which fitted her 24" waste and a larger steel hoop 4' in diameter. The hoops are joined by fish net and covered with the material of choice. It acted and looked exactly like the expensive dresses made for special events. her bodice was square and low to display 42'boobs to the nipple area with a fast remove insert which gave her a modest appearance untill she removed it..... Quite a show stopper. Wouldn't look good on me though.....

Iron Bear, you in a hoop skirt dress has me tickled. I am a southern belle and proud of it..But, I do have that dark side that comes out...

I am trying to find out what is meant by it being a Black Cotilliion. I think we all dress in formal black fetishwear but I am still trying to find that out. If that is it, that is going to be an expensive venture..Well, I have sent out a few emails and I will see what I am up against..I appreciate all your replies..

Resepctfully,
sultry

cotillion
A cotillion or debutante ball is a formal presentation of young ladies, debutantes, to polite society.

Debutants are usually recommended by a distinguished committee or sponsored by an established member of society.

Modern cotillions are often charity events; the parents of the debutante donate a certain amount of money to the designated cause, and the invited guests pay for their tickets. Cottillions may be elaborate formal affairs and involve not only "debs" but junior debutantes, escorts and ushers, flower girls and pages as well.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Cotillion was a popular 18th and 19th century dance in the French Courts that preceded the Quadrille style of dancing.

So, from this i can only infer that it's to be a Halloween version suggesting the color black, the formality of black, and/or the opposite of a traditional 'formal' cotillion. Kinda like saying it's the eeeeevil version, muwahaaaa/endevillaugh.

I would HIGHLY suggest you go Victorian.
Secondly, if you're into ponyplay, wouldn't it be fun to be an English Riding Lady who wears the tall tophat complete with train, bustle, boots and crop? Sultry i could just see you in that;) You may be a sub but you'd make one hell of a Victorian Mistress!

this pic is of course not what i had in mind but in the general direction...

Just googled Victorian Riding 'Habit' or costume and got LOTS of great links...

As most of these parties go, there is always at least one "man of the cloth", and with my twisted sense of humor have been thinking of dressing my slave as a pregnant nun and myself as a priest. Depending on who you may or may not insult by this, maybe this is something you might consider. :)

A goth faerie is a nice touch but if your thinking more traditional dress, maybe the long ballroom gown with the back completely removed for access to the rear, legs.
