It is time! I went out and bought myelf a new sewing machine and am trying to relearn how to ue it. ACK! I will get the hang of it eventually. I have some ideas as to what I would like to make for my Lady, but always appreciate the input of others. I have found designs for the items I am going to list. I would like your votes on what order you would have them made, if I were making them for you. Also, if there is something else that is not on the list, please add to it. This is open to all comers.
1. a boustier/corsett
2. a cape - reversible
3. a leather skirt

If you are "relearning" I recommend you leave the corset for last. Boning a corset is a huge pain in the ass, IMHO, and not for beginners really.

Kind is right, corsets are tricky as all get out..I would suggest
2, 3 then 1 Capes are the easiest to work, with a skirt depending on design coming in second.

Actually, the design for the corsett is done in a 4 panel design that uses the panels and laces for support. No boning in the piece. As they tend to dig in to my Mistresses skin, I thought I'd try a style without them.

In that case, my vote of for the corset.  (This was my vote before considering feasibility too. :-)

I would think the skirt might be the easiest project to attempt first, only because you mentioned that the cape will be reversible.  You'll need practice with the stitches before that type of work.

Good luck.  I'm sure your Lady will love them.

Eeeeeh sewing!  I am an excellent seamstress, but just hate sewing.  The issue with the skirt is the fit---if your Lady is a rough fit, a skirt with a waistband might be harder since you'll need to adjust the actual pattern, which can be aggravating.

I would go with the cape, but make sure your ironing board is set up right next to your sewing machine so you don't go nuts walking back and forth.  My ironing board is in the basement, and the sewing machine is on the second floor, so believe me, it can get boring fast!  I also recommend getting some muslin and doing a mockup before cutting into the fashion fabric if you haven't used these patterns before.  It's worth the time investment, and then you will know in advance what tinkering needs to be done.

As for the skirt, I was thinking of a wrap-around style. That way it can be adjusted as she needs.

I agree save the corset for last much more detailed.  Start with the skirt then the cape.

Does the corset have grommets?  If so, I'd say leave it for last.

Easiest sounds like the skirt, especially if you're going for a simple wraparound design.  Although if you're using leather fabric to relearn, I'd suggest making a prototype first out of a cheap symphony broadcloth or one of those nasty calico prints, whatever fabric is inexpensive... don't know about where you are, but around here the specialty fabrics like leather and fur are pricey and don't leave much room for error!

Also make sure you've got the right thread and sewing machine needle for sewing on leather.  Depending on the thickness of the leather, upholstery thread might actually be your best bet to hold it together.

Personally?  Me?
I would choose #4, or in alpha listings "E"  (either of which you didn't list) which stands for "all of the above."
But, I'm just greedy like that.

I am hoping to get them all compleyed eventually
Pyrrefanie:
Yes, it will have grommets, but i have done them on other projects, so it shouldn't be a problem. I already have several different wieght needles for my machine, but I haven't descided on material weight yet. Probably 5oz, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions?

for the cape may i suggest a mixed use garment with one side water repellent and the other a brighter breathable fabric, if your going to use bunting use a meshed type to prevent bunching at the bottom. good luck

Assuming you're going with the skirt project, I'd go with a lighter-weight leather.  I'm not sure what weights you've got available near you, but you want something that's going to flow fairly well and not be too heavy against the legs and the hip area.  A suede-y fabric might work nicely as well, depending on the texture you're holding out for.

I'm thinking of ordering some suede splits from Tandy Leather. They are between 1 1/2 and 2 ounces and should flow easily.
