Hi curious,

First, no, older does not always mean wiser.

Next, if you would like to cut down the amount of mail; take anything referring to being new out of your profile.

As far as filtering out 'wanna be's', it's going to take time.

Last, welcome, much luck and have fun on your path.

Saya

Answer to #1: Antidisestablishmentarianism.
Answer to #2: Cold fusion.

Answer to anything else: The train will arrive 2.25 hours ahead of the car.

[Edited to add: go with Saya's answer. That's better.]

Welcome.  Unfortunately, there is no magic formula that will tell you from one email whether someone is a 'wannabe'.  You can only tell from talking with someone whether you are compatible.  My advice would be, first, to approach the Doms on here like you would any relationship - do you 'click'?  do you like his personality?  do you have similar interests outside of the bedroom?  Also, I'd advise doing a lot of thinking about the things you find attractive about D/s and talk with people who seem like they have the same interests.

If you do find yourself wanting to only talk to those who are, say, 30-40, you can put up a filter on your email which sorts out those older and younger and will put them into your 'bulk' mail folder for you to check when you wish and the more desirable mail will go to your in box.

look into mail controls via clicking on the mail controls button in your mailbox, there is no filter for wannabes but you can make 'tend.

Older ones can be big dicks too.  Most of my wanker and rude mail comes from men 50+

No necessarily.  I hope you ask more questions...

And all these years I've been convinced that the answer to everything was "42". Sigh. Back to the books.

I have been told that the initial mail deluge will abate after some time. Be critical.

If you're talking about actually filtering by using the ability on this site to automatically send certain mail to a bulk folder, you can only do that by gender, orientation, location, age, etc.
If you're talking about your personal filtering, you have to feel your own way on that.  If you don't want to chat, refuse all chat requests and delete the mail.  If you are not interested in hearing from certian orientations, just delete the mail, etc., etc.  There is no "wannabe" button.
You have to read the mail and make your personal decisions based upon your personal parameters.  A "wannabe" for Me, might be the perfect partner for you.  Until you get a feel for the typical verbage that makes someone unacceptable for you, you just have to take the time to figure it out one email at a time.
Good luck!
Edited to Add:  With a user name such as the one you have chosen, you are going to get a lot of mail from those who think you are a quick mark for some superficial cyber play.  It's up to you.
