not quite on topic, really, but one that is very obscure (and everyone I know who HAS seen it loves it): Dark Star.

LadyRainfire -> RE: movies you like but noone else does... (3/7/2008 8:36:27 AM)

Or since Jim Henson's Labyrinth was mentioned, how about Dark Crystal? Or the Neverending Story? I've also liked Dragonheart with Dennis Quaid.

BBWnNC72 -> RE: movies you like but noone else does... (3/7/2008 8:37:41 AM)

Spsceballs is great.
i like to watch an old B-rated horror called "Sleepaway camp" [sm=biggrin.gif]

GreedyTop -> RE: movies you like but noone else does... (3/7/2008 8:39:42 AM)

Dark Crystal! I had a boyfriend that called me his Gelfling :) ( I kinda miss that guy.. he was a doll :) )
I saw some movie a while back, cant recall the name.. along the lines of Neverending Story, but it involved martial arts, and some creatures called Roos.

soul2share -> RE: movies you like but noone else does... (3/7/2008 8:41:46 AM)

Speaking of Stallone...there was the one with him and Estelle Getty...Stop or my mother will shoot!  And I loved Howard the Duck!  There are actually quite a few movies listed here that are some of my favorites.....

This is after the era of popularity it had....The Rocky Horror Picture Show...have it on both VHS and DVD.  My son sat with me and watched it...well, 10 minutes of it...then he was off to play Playstation.....KIDS!  They don't know the good stuff anymore!

And who among us remembers Heavy Metal?

(DAMN!!!  I'm OLD!)

xxblushesxx -> RE: movies you like but noone else does... (3/7/2008 8:44:13 AM)

My high school sweetheart was in lust with every female in Heavy Metal (toons...ya just can't trust 'em, yanno?)

GreedyTop -> RE: movies you like but noone else does... (3/7/2008 8:45:38 AM)

I LOVED Heavy Metal!

LadyRainfire -> RE: movies you like but noone else does... (3/7/2008 8:46:42 AM)

Sigh... I remember being told I was too young to watch Heavy Metal but then my mom popped in Barbarella right after that. Maybe that's what's wrong with me...

xxblushesxx -> RE: movies you like but noone else does... (3/7/2008 8:55:14 AM)

*lol* Is that with Pan Anderson? I love her!
She's funny, sexy and smart...all good qualities imo.
AND she doesn't mind laughing at herself, either!

LadyRainfire -> RE: movies you like but noone else does... (3/7/2008 9:03:34 AM)

Barbarella was an old movie with Jane Fonda in it. She was some kind of explorer, I can't remember the details, I was kind of young. LOL... Maybe bear remembers it better? All I remember is one scene where she agrees to have sex with this guy and gets all freaked out because he wants to do it the normal way but in that date and time, they have it though machines or something. It was kinda funny...

CalifChick -> RE: movies you like but noone else does... (3/7/2008 9:24:41 AM)

Here is the Barbarella plot line:  After an in-flight anti-gravity striptease (masked by the film's opening titles), Barbarella (Jane Fonda), a 41st century astronaut, lands on the planet Lythion and sets out to find the evil Durand Durand in the city of Sogo, where a new sin is invented every hour. There, she encounters such objects as the Exessive Machine, a genuine sex organ on which an accomplished artist of the keyboard, in this case, Durand Durand himself, can drive a victim to death by pleasure, a lesbian queen who, in her dream chamber, can make her fantasies take form, and a group of ladies smoking a giant hookah which, via a poor victim struggling in its glass globe, dispenses Essance of Man. You can't help but be impressed by the special effects crew and the various ways that were found to tear off what few clothes our heroine seemed to possess. Based on the popular French comic strip.

Some things I like:  Cousin Bette, The Draughtsman's Contract (both are period pieces)
