Aneirin -> Is it me , a sign of the times or........ (3/7/2008 6:02:06 AM)

Is it me, a sign of the times or are people just becoming rude. I say this as I am on this site looking for friends. I see other profiles apparently seeking the same. After having read a profile, I may write if I feel myself and the other have something in common, but I have noticed in the last few months, very rarely do I get an answer.

Now I did consider perhaps my mail settings were the problem, but I get mail from already established friends and from people on these forums, so what is it. Honestly I feel the other side consists purely of people looking at people and they perhaps wondering why no red writing shows up or is it, people are just plain rude, they will not respond to anyone.

This was not always so, at one time people responded if to say no thanks  etc or even hello.

Has anyone else noticed the same as myself ?

Is it a sign of the times, or do you think people are becoming a little less friendly and considerate ?

I think most people can't handle "just" friendship.  Maybe they don't realize that when they write out their profile?
My profile says friends only as well.  I am very happy with my dom.  If I wasn't, I wouldn't be with him.  I get e-mails all the time from people claiming they want to get to know new people, become friends.
Problem is..most always that is not the case after an e-mail or two.  It usually always comes down to a..."well you can cheat on him right"  It gets old...and maybe when you e-mail someone it is someone who has already heard so much they just don't want to hear anymore?

--OP, anyone local to you?

screw em.  ...I am trying to plan a camping trip..  I wish I could just crash a group- but in todays age that is risky.

as far as people have no manners- it isnt you..it is the culture.

.....everyone has the same amount of hours in a day.  when folks waste/take my time; space or money- i get rude.

it floors me that we have to "Plot"  eveyrthing in the "new world".   and it is getting harder to "plot" day to day life.

Muttling -> RE: Is it me , a sign of the times or........ (3/7/2008 7:55:09 AM)

Dear OP,

Welcome to the new world.   I have sent brief but sincere messages in which I asked, just say "No Thank You if I am not of interest to you."   I rarely get a simple response or acknowledgement.   I am certain these people would be offended if they sent a similar message and got no return.   It is a sad statement of today's culture, but I take pride in knowing that I respond to all who contact me.

Sincerely,

Mutt

I reply to all email unless it is rude.  I would consider it bad manners not to.

Mutt, I wish I could say the same, but I refuse to answer the various "look at my cock and see if you can imagine what it'd feel like in your ass" emails I get - seeing a deflated ballon attached to an even bigger balloon does not induce passionate stirrings. Nausea, yes.. Or the ones who have written asking for advice, I've taken the time to provide it (politely) only for them to respond with something vile b/c I didn't give them a virtual pat on the hand. So when a female has received numerous such emails it's understandable why she thinks a person has an ulterior motive for writing other than the initial offer of friendship.

The sentiment is nice, although not always possible.

Something I have observed, one person's 'friendship' is not necessarily in alignment with another's for various reasons, i.e., the boundaries of friendship are blurry these days, friendship to some also means having a 'fuck buddy', so that's another reason a person may not respond.

Which reminds me, I was going to ask you the other day. I know your on the road alot, hope you haven't had too much difficulty this winter. I think I have seen more really bad accidents in my commuting this winter, than all years prior.

ottRopesandKnots -> RE: Is it me , a sign of the times or........ (3/7/2008 12:26:28 PM)

I'm not so certain I consider no response to be rude behavior.  I would consider a "No thanks" response to be extremely polite, and I would consider "Fuck off and die" to be rude.  Somewhere in the middle there is that grey area which is neither polite nor rude and I'm fine with that.

Of course, when I get the "No thanks" responses I usually reply with "Well you're fat and ugly anyhow!", now that's definitely rude of me.  ;)
