I've got an older pet located across the US from me. He does very well, in my opinion. While his work schedule is absolute Hell and the zone difference is 3 hours, he does manage to find the time to call me 2-3x per week. We email and send regular letters as well. I trust him quite a bit on what he says he does and doesn't.

He's interested in being collared by me and my question is what kind of collar I should send to him? Should I spend my collar on something nicer for him or just send off something semi-cheap? I also have the idea of sending a hand-made necklace as well. Something he could keep under shirts and out of sight . My other pet laughed and said I should just send him a quater-machine plastic ring since I'm addicted to the crane games.

And pretty much what I'm asking is- What kind of collar would you give a long-distance pet?

hi, sweetie...

What about a hand braided necklace? Long enough to cover... :) Find out what colors he likes.. or even better.. use YOUR favorite colors :)   Embroidery thread would be good for that :)

Whatever you want- it's a symbol of your relationship so decide what the relationship is and how you want to symbolize it.

Aha.
I should send him a big pink boa.

And I think you use perm. marker or paint on a snake.
Not sure.
Never tried to color one.

And I do have embroidery floss.
I randomly steal wire from the basement and make dream catchers.

Made our last boy dog, rip, a collar out of neon orange floss.
He'd get out into the woods and we didn't want him mistaken for a deer and shot.
Not good.

Exactly. If you are happier sending something you made then do that. Collars aren't always heavy chains or even pet collars. All depends on your relationship. I don't think distance should be a reason to change the kind of collar you favor.

Well OP, send whatever you like to use for a collar. In the distant past, when I had ldr pets, I sent a leather dog collar of My choosing to one who wore it daily ... until it got an interested reaction from a female workmate ... who he then (with My permission) introduced to the lifestyle. She and I corresponded, She became his Domme, they got married, She had him making bdsm furniture ... all in the space of about 18 months! I was happy with that outcome!

With others, I got dogtags engraved with their pet name and My "collar" (eg slavemick{J}) and posted that off. It could be worn on a leather collar or a more discreet chain around their neck, or fastened to a belt clip ... whatever worked for them in their lives. They were popular too!

PS I found it great fun to remain entirely deadpan when asking the engraver to make these tags ... you could see he was bursting with curiosity but not quite daring to ask the question LOL!
