One I really liked I can't remember the name.  It was a post civil war movie with Sam Shepherd and Tom Selleck and others.  They came home from the war to discover yankees had kidnapped their sisters and one's girlfriend and taken off to Mexico to sell them in slavery - unconsensual type.
They rescued them of course, but it was a great movie.

Bram Stoker's Dracula
i love it for its costume, faithfullness to the book, Ds overtones, Vampirism, great acting, great cinematography, great script, great cast,

but mostly ... I love it for Lucy Westernra getting screwed in the garden by a werewolf/vampire as it sucks her blood and therefore providing me with a staple fantasy day dream for the rest of time

I thought the movie was enjoyable but the book far superior.

I absolutely love Cold Mountain and still get upset by the ending every single time I watch it.

I agree with that, O.G., whenever I've read a book and then watched the film I've always felt somewhat let-down. Asian films tend to be visually stunning, MoaG is no exception and while I can visualise traditions/customs, it's always nice to see them in film especially during fight/dance scenes.

One of the most emotionally stirring books for me was The Green Mile, yet I finished watching the film wishing I hadn't seen it.

Have you by chance seen the Japanese version (with subtitles) of "Shall We Dance?"  It was the original, before Richard Gere and J.Lo created Hollywood's enjoyable yet inferior version.  I highly recommend it.  I agree about Geisha being visually stunning.  I enjoyed the movie for that reason alone.

I haven't as yet, O.G., it's now on my list to see and once my boy is awake I'll get him to find it for me as he's an expert on asian films and has the largest collection I've ever seen - literally thousands of films in his collection. Thanks for the nods up!

Madona, asian films are so graceful, even when they're being violent!
