Well, I completed my mission yesterday - down to London for 10am (moved from 9am, which would have made it mission impossible). Saw Buck Palace, Trafalgar Square, the Household Cavalry trotting up The Mall (made me laugh - twelve guys with swords, being escorted by three police with pepper spray).

I lived it up a bit, and having parked at Heathrow got a taxi to the meeting and another back (£120-00 roundtrip!). Both cabbies (of course) were into conversation, and the one made me laugh inwardly as the conversation moved onto LGBT matters as we passed near the place where the gay pub was blown up a few years back - "I got no problem with gays and lesbians" he said, "and I like gay men 'cause they're always funny - great sense of humour, you know?" and then continued "its them trannies what I cant stand - they look so awful."

And throughout - he never had a clue!

Did it make you feel good on the one hand, and pissed-off on the other? I think that's how I would have felt.

Still: nice work, LadyE  .

The problem with 'the knowledge' is that they named it wrong.

True, but as far as knowing how to navigate in London, cabbies are up to scratch.

The incessant chatter does get tedious though.

Satnav is ok and it comes in a selection of sexy international female voices.

For lychester square turn right ahead.

I do see these potential cabbies on their mopeds doing the knowledge and they never look like the type of people you'd expect to find behind the wheel strangely. Mopeds struggle up hills with wide loads etc.

While he certainly is ignorant in his knowledge of "trannies" he had the sense to see your for the lovely lady that you are. I'm just sorry you have to be exposed to it. Glad your mission was accomplished too :O)

It wouldn't have me, either. I'd have sat there inwardly laughing my arse off "If you only knew, Mister!" Although I'd have been inclined to have had a little fun at his expense. I've had a couple of people think me a transsexual, even my boy tells me I sound like Frank Bruno in the mornings, especially when I laugh - I need a voice coach! So it's the time when I make a lot of my business calls and I wish I'd received a pound for every person that says, "Can you please confirm I am talking with the right person, your name is .........   ................ ? I have personally known three transsexuals, none of which had any masculine traits whatsoever and due to hormone therapy/voice coaching, had beautifully feminine voices.
