So, I’ve had a couple of unusual dreams over the past few days, one about talking to an old friend I haven’t met in years and one about receiving incomprehensible documents in the mail. This got me thinking about dreams in general, and I realised that I’ve practically never dreamed about anything BDSM-related. The one minor exception was a dream I had many years ago, about walking around a city with a rather bossy woman who made me carry her bag. I clearly remember feeling subservient and aroused within the dream, but the whole thing was so mild that it hardly counts.

I’m curious to compare notes with others on these forums. Do you ever dream about WIITWD? If so, how often? And do your kinky dreams correspond closely to things you do, or fantasise about, in your waking hours?

I dont tend to dream, i have nightmares, lots of stabbings and murder so um no :D

I heard this theory that relates dreams to the kind of automatic quick response mode that people go into in moments of extreme stress or danger.

The theory goes that dreams are often violent because it's a sort of simulation your brain runs to try and come up with the best response for any dangerous scenario. Made a lot of sense to me, as I have lots of dreams with violence in them too, and apparently most adults do, whether they remember it or not.

Certainly the most sensible explanation of what dreams really are that I've ever heard.

These are the dreams I always try to remember.

I've had a number of intense erotic dreams in the course of my life, one or two that bordered on the shamanic. And there are some forms of experiments in brain chemistry, including D/S topspace and bottomspace, that really seem to intensify the creative imagination.

I actually had a pervy dream last night involving an out of town playmate! It was fun, lots more like the kind of scene he would have wanted in the first place.

My pervy dreams are far and few between but maybe that is why I remember them. I remember my first BDSM related dream. I was kneeling in my living room and I remember thinking, "what the hell?" I turn around and notice there is an asian woman standing behind me with a friggin bull whip! Thats about all I remember of that one....

A really interesting one was the one I had about this co-worker. I remeber we were in a library and she handed me a book and said, "read it." I read the title and it was something about slaves, ok so here is where I realise I am having one of these kinky dreams, lol. The next thing I remember Im in a basement (Im guesing of her house) and I was chained to the floor by a chain that went to a collar around my neck. I couldnt stand, in my dream I got the distinct impresion the purpose of the chain was to keep me in a kneeling/sitting position. I looked up and she is sitting in a chair looking at me, her red hair down and she was grining while she tapped the book in her hand. She started laughing this haunting laugh that actually woke me up. So, in a way this dream was actually kind of creepy lol.

I've had several erotic dreams over the years.

However, the most recent, which was very shamanic, was the night after my slave left after having been here a few days. I dreamt of a white tiger kitten playing with my hand.

When I looked up the dream interpretation for what a white tiger meant, it represented female sexual agression. I found that very interesting.

Sadly most of my erotic dreams are parts of the story or stories I'm working on at the moment. When those dreams/scenes replay over a few nights I know I must write them out or I'm going to keep dreaming them.

It's an interesting idea, but I have to admit that I'm a bit skeptical. This doesn't explain non-violent dreams, nor does it explain why violent dreams - mine, at least, and those of several people I've spoken to - are often so wildly unrealistic.

On the other hand, I can't pretend that I have any better ideas about the function of dreams. I suspect intuitively that they're a result of some neurological process we don't really understand yet - perhaps some essential shuffling of information, analogous to optimising the storage of files in a computer's memory. But that's all a bit vague and arm-wavy.

From this, and some of the other responses, it seems that many people have dreams that are much more exciting than mine... a bit depressing, really. If the Asian woman with the bullwhip shows up in your dreams again, please tell her I said hello.

I have a re-occuring dream that I leave my home, drive up to the grocery, get a 1/2 gallon carton of 1% milk, and come back home.

Another re-occuring dream is that I quit my job and enter law school.
