I love the way these threads start out as one topic and before they are done can cover 3 or 4 by association. Reminds me of the Kevin Bacon game where some one gives you a name of and actor or actress any using co-stars that person has starred with tie it to Kevin Bacon. I even managed to do that when someone being clever gave me Benny Hill and that left him speechless.......

I often give up on threads by page 2, sometimes 3 if it's really interesting to me, because they are so morphed after the first 20 or so posts that you don't even know what the original topic was. At least on a positive note, there don't seem to be as many flame wars going on as when I first visited this site, because thats instant threadkill.

Isn't that 6 degrees of separation? (or was it 7, 7-1/2 in Newfoundland).. :)

caro -> RE: Threads and Kevin Bacon (9/24/2005 8:03:26 PM)

Ok... I have to ask... how did you relate Benny Hill to Kevin Bacon? I gotta know...

Focus50 -> RE: Threads and Kevin Bacon (9/25/2005 3:55:16 AM)

Well there you go.... Soon as I saw KB's name mentioned on this site, I immediately thought of the old movie I was watching yesty called "Animal House". There was a *very young* KB getting his butt belted as an Omega House initiation. Guess not....

Forums are about discussion and it's reasonable that topics will expand, especially by a second or third page! That's fine with me but my pet peeve is when two or more then turn the thread into a virtual personal chat room and the topic unfortunately becomes a nonsense. Right thumb then clicks the "back" button and I go elsewhere....

Focus51.

Kudos to you! I'll have to find a way to use that next time I'm with my oh-so-expert-at-any-trivia friend, hahaha... see, now this is why sometimes threads that wander a bit are interesting. I always seem to learn the neatest things! Thank you!

CalliopePurple -> RE: Threads and Kevin Bacon (9/25/2005 11:15:33 AM)

Always wondered how to connect Nicholas Cage to Kevin Bacon. I don't watch a ton of movies, so can anyone do that one?

Haha. Well, that's one answered piece of trivia from inside my head. I'm easily amused.

NakedOnMyChain -> RE: Threads and Kevin Bacon (9/25/2005 8:11:35 PM)

I used to create a game similar to that for one of my DJ friends. He wouldn't have time to think the game up so I was the natural lackey. Four of my friends and I would get together, buy some beer, and spend a night creating these games where people would fill in the blanks during his trivia show at BW3's. The game was the 24 degrees of (insert name of star here). You would start out with a star and a movie, link them to co-star from that movie, then to a co-star of the co-star in a different movie, and keep doing it until it was linked back around to the original actor. The 24 degrees of George Carlin was the hardest and best one we did. We spent about four hours on it. (And in our own defense, we didn't cheat. No cell phones or computers were used. It's challenging, but it's a great time.)

Ach benny hill is easy and old... you can do it in three.

BennyHill - Michael Caine The itlalian Job
Michael Caine - Tom Cruise Austin Powers goldmember.
Tom Cruise - Kevin Bacon A few good men.

*takes a bow

Who can do it in two?

Peace and Love

NakedOnMyChain -> RE: Threads and Kevin Bacon (9/26/2005 1:28:19 AM)

It actually gets harder the more steps you take. Like in the 24 game. You can have it perfectly with 23, but getting it to 24 adds a lot of extra difficulty.

lol... not on this game, because eveything can relate to Kevin Bacon...! [:D]

The six degrees of seperation is within 6 anyway - it doesnt have to be six (mathamatical law an all that) and the less you can do the better. It would be good if we could make the rules, but we can't...lol

I still wonder who can do two...

Peace and Love
