WalterRego -> Not a collar (3/9/2008 7:26:19 AM)

Last  weekend, Mistress wanted to go to the Flower Show in Philadelphia. In the morning before we left the hotel room, She tied a big, fluffy piece of yarn-like string to my wrist with a floppy bow and the ends of the string hanging down. It poked just below my sleeve cuff.  I remarked at first that it would look like I wanted to remember something important. Something more important than would be served by having a string tied around my finger.

It was.

During the course of the day walking through the Convention Center and looking at all the exhibits, I sometimes  forgot about the string tied around my wrist. But occasionally, I would feel something there. Like a frayed cuff or something brushing insistently against me. And I would absently shake it, which didn’t make it go away, so I’d eventually look down. And there it was: Mistress’ String.

Reminding me I was Hers. That I was there because She wanted to go. That I was there with Her because She wanted me there. And a few times like a leash She could hook a finger through and pull me by.

It was just wonderful. Different from and in some ways better than a collar (a temporary one of which was under my shirt, but  unseen, unfelt).

Do you have any innocuous symbols or actual things like that, not a collar, but household items common items, you use to remind your sub that he or she is yours, to bring you to his thoughts randomly throughout the day? I’d think that those sorts of  things, un like a collar, would have to be moved or removed or  changed from time to time, so that the novelty and unfamiliarity would remain. Just the opposite of a collar, so it wouldn’t become accepted, a given.

colouredin -> RE: Not a collar (3/9/2008 7:34:40 AM)

Lol thats like everything, A song or a photo or the skirt i wore when i first met him lol seeing a pin reminds me of him, life does i guess, He doesnt specifically put things around (LDR hes never been to my house) but I attach meaning to things, just like i do with girlie, things i see remind me of her (specifically any time anyone says the word cool funny i know, or if i see something pink) Also the name that he gave me, he rarely ever uses my real name just the one he decided to call me so any time anyone uses that i think of him. :D

Ed to add
I know its not the same though or anything. When I am with him its all a bit differant, he will draw on em and stuff (odd I know but hey thats his perogative) and when we are with other people involved in D/s i wear a temp collar becuase he wants to make a big deal of collaring me in a ceramony thing, the temp one is just a chocker really i still like it though

thank you for this.. as usual, a wonderful read.. my boi and I are lying in bed, its the first she's read on CM, I'm glad it was your post...

yes, I often use a piece of black leather this way, around a wrist or neck -- a kind of temporary collar in a way -- usually for someone in service for a short specified period of time or a new relationship, before it gets to that collar stage...

although no one wears my collar at this point, of any kind

thank you again

bostoy -> RE: Not a collar (3/9/2008 2:13:09 PM)

I am not collared to my Dom.  We take collaring very seiously and I know I am not ready for that yet.  Someday I will be, but just not yet.

After we had been together for a few months, my Dom gave me a very beautiful ankle bracelet to remind me that I belong to him.  It has what is called a "slave tear" which he changed to "submissive tear" for me since I am not a slave.  I never take it off and it is a constant reminder that I am owned and loved by a wonderful Dom.

Not exactly.....my Master is a Reiki master so i get white light in my head like inner sunshine.
It happens at random times and i have learned it means he is thinkingof me. i love it when je ejaculates as that gives me the light also. I love serving oral sex too as that gets the light into my head the best.
If i kick off or i go against Him i simply feel the darkness and i feel loneliness.
Oh and there's a swarovski heart shaped crystal on a strong silver chain around my throat for day wear. it's stunningy beautiful. It is slightly amber coloured and reflects the light...it makes me feel that i reflect the light he gives me.
Other than that it's a dog collar. That's my collar for playing as it can get rough so it's strong and well dog-like...... i loved your story especially about being there simply because She wanted you to be. That's lovely.

I wear my engagement ring far more often than my collar and it's definitely a lot more 'normal' looking.

I think I get the sort of feeling you are talking about when he makes me wear a certain thing that maybe I don't wear that often or am not in the mood to sport.

thetammyjo -> RE: Not a collar (3/10/2008 5:41:29 AM)

Fox only wears his collar to kink or friendly events and venues. We'd decided, given some past experiences at his job, that it isn't worth the emotional issues it can cause there and given my focus on the practical I find it tiresome to put it on and off constantly.

So to mark our 7th year we got both his ears pierced. So now there two semi-permanent marks on his body that say "TammyJo owns this".

To day are 231 days since Goddess Lillith put a 2 inch wide leather strap/bracelet on my right wrist. It's a strap that she made and the only way to take it of is by cutting it.

CreativeDominant -> RE: Not a collar (3/10/2008 12:04:41 PM)

Funny how things that you have spoken of recently come up on the boards...

I've had a variation of this conversation with several friends of mine over the last couple of weeks;  a couple of them were vanilla friends looking for ways to symbolize that they were in a relationship and yet not ready to go to a "ring" (they "typical" expression of a "really serious" relationship for some) and a couple were D/s friends of mine.

Personally, I like the idea.  When you have moved forward in a D/s dynamic and you are more than friends and yet not collared, when you are dating but more than casually so and yet, just not at that collared stage, it works.  My color is purple...have loved it since I was a kid, one of my hot rods will end up that color, I use it in airbrush work a lot, etc..  Therefore, when a submissive I am interested in wears something purple and lets me know it because it made them think of me, it feels good.  When I have specifically asked a submissive to wear something intimate in a shade of purple and she does, it makes me feel very good.  Of course, when she tells me that she wore "her" color and that color happened to be the color she was wearing when we met and so, she thought of me, it makes me feel good.  Tis always nice to be thought of in a good way.

JoanieHoney2001 -> RE: Not a collar (3/10/2008 4:42:05 PM)

Sir bought me the most beautiful braided leather bracelet to wear every day. The only time it comes off is when I take a shower or wash dishes. I work with a bunch of uptight British guys in an office setting so am not able to wear his collar to work. The bracelet doesn't even get a second look from anyone, yet he and I know it is there to say "Hey, she's MINE". It's a lovely feeling in the middle of a meeting or a really tough time to look down and have a physical reminder of who I will be going home to.

feralcat -> RE: Not a collar (3/10/2008 8:01:49 PM)

what a lovely story...thank you for sharing.

UndreamtHeaven -> RE: Not a collar (3/10/2008 10:19:11 PM)

I haven't given my boy this yet as it is still being made. But he will wear a vey thin but strong silver collar. He works in a place where he has to wear dress shirts so this will be hidden by his clothes and he is pretty excited by the fact that he knows its coming. After all I had to get it fitted just right for him. I will say that it is not bold  or 'tells' the tale of what we like but he says he is very 'proud' to be wearing it, when it does happen.

He also has a ring to match the design of the collar so that he can  remember if we ever have to have him with out the actual collar.

Do we use everyday things to remind him of me... There nothing like a pair of lace panties, lovingly  stashed in his coat pocket to remind him of me as she puts his hand in his pockets, or maybe a note tucked in his lunch to tell him what is the plan for the evening. I find different ways to bring reminders to him all the time.

HeavansKeeper -> RE: Not a collar (3/11/2008 12:03:37 AM)

My Pet wears a leather cat collar as a bracelet for exactly the same reason.
