Half Full?

Half Empty?

Let's think and discuss.

This question gives us alot to think about.
It depends on how much want to get into it.
(How far down the rabbit hole do you want to go??)

This question has to do with our outlook on life, Our paradiem(sp?), and our *reality*.
"Reality"... that's a whole other thread/conversation.

I'll give my answer on the question after a few replies

Half Full

I am constantly adding to my life & improving myself. I put a lot of time & energy into doing so, but the return more than makes up for the expenditure.

Deeper?

To me the glass simply "is". I know that's a broad generalization, but I've noticed that this is how I look at life. It's not specifically good or bad. It just is, and I can make of it what I want (Either for good, or for awesome). If it's half empty or full and I want a refill, I get up and get it. If I don't, I wash the glass and put it away (or leave it for a week to mold). Either way, the glass still exists.

I don't really see it as a 'half full' (ergo I'm an optimist) or a 'half empty' (ergo I'm a pessimist) type of question as many people do. I look at the glass and see that there's only half - and half isn't sufficient - I want a FULL glass, thankyouverymuch! If the glass is an analogy for my life I strive to fill the glass rather than content myself with a life half lived.

The glass in the illustration is definitely a red x. Thus I would say, if I applied Freudian logic, that it simply is not.

heh.

For me, the glass is just a glass.
Neither half full or half empty...

The glass is a glass of possibilities.
If I try to *live in the moment*, without focusing on the half full/ half empty, it is quite a possibility that the glass is overflowing.

When I'm not looking it is an endless wave of possibilities, once I look, (focus on the full/empty) it becomes what it is, (either half full or half empty)
It really matters how I view it, or react to it. (Good days vs. bad days, we all have them.)

I guess it depends on what it is that is fullfilling my glass at the moment.

Now, lets futher this a moment...
What is it that is fullfills you to a "half full" state of mind?

Is it materialistic? (Money, stuff you own, etc)

Is it spiritual/ mental? (Being at peace, enlightenment, etc)

And lastly,
Most of you replied with half full...
So, half full because we *want* it that way, or because we *believe* it is that way??

We FEEL "half full" during the times of *Good in our lives*.
If we VIEW things as "half full" then why are we always searching for more??

Mine is usually half empty. I live to anticipate problems. ugh. But I like the idea of a glass being.....a glass. It's one tiny step toward optimism.

Waaah, Waaah, Waaah......whoever invented plastic beer bottles is my new hero...and it's completely full!

Do you get minibarrels (5 liters... I guess yours are 1 gallon) of beers in America, in supermarkets ? It's quite new here (about a year). I didn't see any last time I was in America, but that doesn't mean much. Is it also new, or have we missed that for many years ? that's a nice party thing too.
