I am far to lazy right now to go up and find who said it, but as someone already said...I think that it's more about WHO they are being kinky with...not so much that they are being kinky. That's as far as Hollywood anyway. As far as the media in general...they are only going to come out with a story if someone gets hurt or is involved in something extreme and public.

Who really cares anyway as to why its not talked about in the media so much. I like it that way.

Luscious...are you aware that cupping is ALSO an ancient asian medical practice?

subseeks1 -> RE: kinky celebs (3/17/2008 12:20:38 PM)

If you read "My Wicked Wicked Ways" bio on Errol Flynn there are many referneces to kink parties in it. Its gone on for decades and is just under the surface there.

LaTigresse -> RE: kinky celebs (3/18/2008 8:50:33 AM)

All I have to say is.....if Prince is submissive, I get first dibs. I don't CARE if he is a he......he's pretty enough...

GreedyTop -> RE: kinky celebs (3/18/2008 9:05:13 AM)

LaT.. Iknow you said you don't share your toys.. but would you make an exception in this case? *grin* Or let me have him next??

OsideGirl -> RE: kinky celebs (3/25/2008 3:52:19 PM)

A couple of years ago, I spent the evening at a play party with a famous musician...and let me add that it was far from her first experience. She was a very cool lady and everybody who recognized her gave her some space. Luckily for me, she was with a friend of Master/Husband, so I got to spend some time with her.

Next, I was at a Threshold party when one of the above mentioned showed up masked and with full entourage. No one got near her. Seems to me that she missed a lot of the energy with her distance.

HalloweenWhite -> RE: kinky celebs (3/25/2008 3:55:13 PM)

The one brother of the writing/directing team of the Wachowski brothers.  I'm not sure if its Andy or Larry - but one of them is openly dating a Pro Domme and has admitted to beginning the process of gender reassignment at his Mistress' request.

*two cents worth*

HalloweenWhite -> RE: kinky celebs (3/27/2008 10:00:18 AM)

Can't say Im -that- surprsied, the brothers seem quite "iconoclastic".

janigrey -> RE: kinky celebs (3/27/2008 10:07:54 AM)

Okay - I double checked some things and apparently he is NOT reassigning his gender - He is just a cross dresser and his girlfriend/Domme is the ex-wife of 'Buck Angel'.

Wow is that plot thick!

daddysblondie -> RE: kinky celebs (3/27/2008 2:55:32 PM)

I know more kinky "Hollywood" people, not just celebs but people behind the scenes. They're not "out" because they choose not to be.

I think it's great that some people can live an out there life, and have everyone or nearly everyone that comes in contact with them know that there is something different about that person. There are others of us who can't or feel we can't. To each their own. I'm not sure that having more openly kinky celebrities will make it easier (or harder) for the rest of us to be openly kinky in our mundane everyday lives.

midgetmafiosa -> RE: kinky celebs (3/27/2008 7:19:46 PM)

And Ukrainian.  It's still practiced in some small villages to this day.

Also, I'm placing my money on Beyonce Knowles and Sarah Brightman.

But to the people who have convinced themselves that we live in a puriticinal society none of this matters. They have already made up their mind that kink is looked down on and we in the comunity are downtroden and picked on. Nothing at all could ever change this.

I could quite easily list off just as many instances for gay as I did kink. Brokback moutian came out and there was not huge protests in the streets with thousands of angry right wing christians holding picket sighns. The worse that came from it is that some of the more oddball groups issued press statements. OH! Not press statements! Anything but press statements! ..... Yet evey newspaper went ahead and reacted as if homosecuality was oppresed anyway. "Is amarica ready for a film like this? Are those ignorant inbread backwood hicks who love in the red states goiing to be open minded enough to finaly see the light?'. The christrian right didnt opress the film despite holowoods desperate desire for them to opress so that they can point fingers and say 'see, we still arnt accepted'. Heck, even the director Ang Lee was quoted in an interview and asked what he thought abotu the near lack of any protest againt the film and he said 'oh, those evil right wingers are so crafty. They stayed quiet on purpose because they didnt want to give us any free publicity. Thats how evil these right wingers are!"

I think there is some genuine concern that ultra-right wing conservative christian organisations are getting far too much of a hearing within government in the UK ans US. I personally believe 99.9% of the population treat people like that as idiots. The trouble is we have governments that seem to be more interested in keeping newspaper editors happy, that legislating in a consensual and positive way.

There has been a big stink over here over the plans to reduce the time limit on abortions. The house of commons were given a free vote and the MP's voted with their own consciences, the motion was defeated as a result.

We saw on a TV documentary made about the campaigning up to the vote. There were a group of  people I would describe as religious fanatics, christians to boot who are fundamentally against abortion clearly pulling the strings of several members of parliament. I for one believe in choice and freedom for all, but if these sort of people start getting too much influence then the conspircay theorists will be proven right!

Gay rights is almost old hat. I suspect that if you go out in red neck country you will get the "kill the queers" brigade, as you will in many areas of the UK. However, in terms of acceptance we are a good 20 years behind the Gay Rights Movement. May be we should stand back, see what they've achieved and how they achieved it. Then take their successes as a lead and follow it? I can only see positive results from it.

Whilst we are still being pilloried by the news media, especially the gutter press who are only interested in selling their rags, then your average member of the public will still look down their noses in disdain in public. On private they'll probably get the gimp suitas out & parade around the bedroom! lol

That is unfortunately is the nature of the beast, and if we can encourage more celebrities to come out into the open then they will be more acceptance.

Jane I forgot her last name- starts with a W- from the Go Gos was on Surreal Life and was very, very open about her involvement in S&M and that it is part of her lifestyle.  For one of the activities the celebrities had to do on the show, they had to go on short dates with each other.  Her date involved putting the men in bondage and giving them a sampling of S&M.
