Here goes another "observation".  Why do women post nude photographs on sites such as this one and others?   I find it a bit annoying, but criminals really renjoy it.
Getting more like Glen Beck evey day.  Putting humor aside, it is very dangerous.

I would have thought the same could be applied to simply posting a face picture on the internet, i.e., anything that easily identifies a person and if a person has 'issues", I'm sure they'll have no difficulty filling in the blanks, so to speak. Providing pictures just makes the job easier, conversation will also uncover details about each individual as once the initial awkwardness has been overcome, people tend to be candid about themselves.

Some people are instructed to.
Some people like to show off their body.
Some people are exhibitionists.
Some people - it's their kink.
Some people don't see nudity as sexual.
Some people are nudists.

Whats it got to do with 'criminals'?
Your butterfly might get someone off - so can your words.  Everytime you walk out the door or post on a forum you may be feeding a 'criminal' as you put it.  To not realise that is pretty naive.

Criminals stalk women every day.   It has become worse since we have been on the net.   Use common sence and not philosphy or dreams to help with this decisin.

The problem with common sense is that it isn't common. Someone sometime

Yes.  Let's blame the bad old internet.  And movies.  And music.  And the media.  Don't forget the porn industry, religon and the kitchen sink.
Let's blame anyone and anything so you can negate your own personal responsibility.

People should be given the freedom here to act as they please within reason. I admire their confidence and the fact they don't let common society dictate to them how they should and shouldn't display their body because the next logical step from that is a kin to the Taliban’s philosophy in Afghanistan. It is nobodies fault but the perpetrator of such crimes for not having the self control to stop themselves.

I have a nude pic on my profile, i say nude because i think there is a differance between naked and nude, i see nude as art and i see that photo as artistic and thats why I have it on there, Im proud of the fact that I took the photo and when people ask my interests i can say i like photography and direct them too it. thats why mine is there.

edited to add, lol im getting a sudden burst of viewers now which totally wasnt the point.

I do not understand why you find other peoples photos annoying? It is a bit like a thread, if it is not your style of topic why post?If naked/nude photos annoy you, then why look? As to 'criminals' don't you think that if someone is going to stalk they are going to stalk no matter what clothing or lack of is displayed in a photo?

Anti-social behaviour is not gender specific, Miss SCD.  I think something of this nature falls into the personal responsibility category.

And Hunk, there's such a thing as 'panoramic' view for cameras these days - I know b/c that's what is used when nude pics are taken of me

I would agree with the stalking thing I had a stalker for a year while i was at uni, he wasnt much fun and it was nothing to do with the internet, i didnt have the internet connected in my room and that didnt put him off i think its far too easy to blame the interner, what so suddenly everyone has become a criminal because of it? you dont think that maybe they had that in them all the time?

Colouredin, have you noticed that the mentality is still there in a lot of people that people shouldn't dress a certain way b/c it would 'encourage' certain behaviours from those of the opposite gender. What happened to personal responsibility? We are not responsible for another's actions, only insofar as how we, ourselves, behave. A picture of someone naked may do 'it' for some, whereas my light auburn hair may do it for others - which is what happened to me last year when I was in a book shop and the hairs on the back of my neck began to prickle as I became aware of someone watching me, only for me to find a guy about to stroke my hair, telling me it reminded me of his 'dead mother's' lol Also, another myth is that stalking is gender specific, there seems to be just as many women behaving antisocially as there are men once they become unnaturally focused on an individual. Such attention is wretched, I agree, but clearly such people have issues which need addressing and while many blame the internet for the seeming 'surge' in this behaviour, it's only served to make it somewhat easier.

*Nods*The one and only time it happened to me was way back in 1989, some guy got my phone number & address off of a check I'd written at the grocery store and set his stalking into motion.I no longer put my phone number or addy on a check, I use a PO Box for that and make up the phone number. Since being online I've never had a problem, I am ultra careful with my real information. No screen name can be linked to the real me, the real me doesn't exist online. I still am curious as to why the OP is annoyed by nakedness

Well, Hunk, thank you SO much for providing me with the image of you measuring your todger with a ruler to ascertain that it's 9 inches! lol Do guys seriously DO that?  I know that length is important to a lot of guys (bigger isn't alwyas better, you bypass the g spot ) but what on earth would us ladies do should we decide our vaginas needed measuring, is there a device for such a thing and can you imagine the conversation wherein one would be bragging about vaginal size?

Where's Domiguy, I know he'd be head Pussy Picture Collector

YEah the internet = ease thats true

Also media reporting, its a very interesting thing if you look at statistics of many crimes you will see that in themselves they havent gone up, but that reporting has. Media panic can do a lot. for example the people most afraid of violent crime are middle aged white women, the most likely victim of violent crime are young black men. The media doesnt report this as much its far nicer to write about the poor helpless woman.

I dont know how manyamericans are aware of the madaline mccan case (sp) she its been reported massivly here, she is a very young cute girl parents are well off doctors and so the reporting was massive, there was a week dedicated to missing children on one of the channels over here, there are many many missing and i dont remember one story about them, they were from poorer backgrounds, less attractive, older, not the right colour.

We are very much taken in by the media its a sad fact but a true one. Sure the internet has allowed greater accessibilty to less savory things, but the person who looks for them isnt suddenly made a criminal by the internet, they are looking them out conciously the internet makes it easier but that does not mean that they wouldnt have done it anyways. In actual fact the internet may be benificial if the person is safely stowed away online doing things then they arent out in the real world doing it. just my opinion

You make a great point and something I've been taking newspapers to task about for years. The sad fact is that newspapers are a business and will only offer stories they know will generate public interest. Three days after Madeleine McCann went missing, so too did a little black girl, she was reported missing on page FIVE of most newspapers. I have yet to see a follow up of her disappearance, whether she was ever found (I sincerely hope that she was) but sadly, she wasn't a viable 'commodity' for the newspaper giants.

Most people are bound by personal accountability/responsibility. I know that if I post my home address/telephone number on the internet I'll get inundated with crackpots either calling, or turning up in person - that would be no different than if I posted my details in shop windows, etc.. Give a person an opportunity and they'll make full use of it. I find that many that cry loudest at being 'conned' by those they've met online really hadn't done their groundwork and acted in haste, repented at their leisure.
