The New York Governor is reported to be named in an investigation of a prostitution ring called Emperor's Club VIP where police have so far arrested 4 people.

The ring had a website which displays scantly-clad women with a rating and a price per hour starting at $5,500.

Spitzer has yet to comment on the allegations, but plans an announcement later today.

So much for a Democrat that campainged on the promise to "root out Republican corruption."

Reports are that Spitzer plans to resign....

He has resigned and has reportedly been indicted.

who paid the 5k, him orthe tax payer??

2. does that guy wear eye liner?

3. prostitution is not the worst crime- assuming it IS a crime. does any one watch that 1/2 hour reality show on sundance, it is on a cat house, no the chicken ranch near Vegas?

Apparently NOT resigning now. Understandable. If you hold an office and face indictment, you want to use the office as a card in a plea deal.

It's not the worst crime. But you have to understand a few things... Spitzer was elected with a campaign that he was going to root out corruption in government. While he was attorney general, he cracked down hard on escort services and prostitution in NYC. He was elected by a landslide with that campaign promise.

And prostitution is illegal in New York and Washington DC where he is being accused of doing this activity. So it's not like he flew to Vegas and did this where it is legal.

Prostitution most assuredly is a crime--it's on the books in all 50 states in the Union. There's no "assume" about it.

Whether it should be a crime--that's a different question altogether.

I'm listening to a Boston radio station and they said he paid "$4,300" for his little visit.
I could do very well on 1/26th of that.
"Hiya Honey! I'll take the Spitzer Special."
All the t.v. talking heads are abuzz on this now! It'll be on all the stations tonight.

I for one would love to see an impeachment case made against Dubya.

Regardless, Spitzer, having run on an anti-corruption platform, should be indicted just for being stupid.

They just said on the News that this is a "Federal Case" and it won't "go away."

Did Eliot Spitzer ever prosecute Johns? I didn't think that was really the NYS Attorney General's gig. Spitzer v. Someone would be a civil case. Prostitution charges would be on the county level, right?

And what does being Governor have to do with it? Anyway, It's not like he got caught with a DEAD hooker.

The real angle here anyway, is the way the Feds surveillance works. Their computers detected the money being used to pay for the whores, and then they cross-referenced against the other databases, and it turned up Spitzer.

Payback for Hank Greenberg, maybe...
