All kidding aside, this is another one of those people saying "I am all fucked and it ain't my fault". Bullshit. The problem is everybody thinks life is a game, and want to have fun. Gambling can be termed a game, but is not. That is real money that you ae putting in that machine or on the table. But people think everything is a game, like war, it's like a game of risk to them.
Gambling is real. Maybe nobody ever told you this before, and that is a shame. A person who hosts a poker game does it to make money. I am not saying that there will not be anyone else walking away a winner, but others will walk away a loser. Losers are required for the winners to win. And knowing when to walk away is the key to becoming a winner.
As the song says ; You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em.
I usually don't quote, but that is absolutley true. You can always fold and wait for the next hand. When I learned not to be afraid to fold is when I started winning. While that sounds ironic, it is not. You have pot odds and real odds. In a hand with a big pot you might be tempted to stay in, because the pot odds are better than the real odds. Then you are gambling that others may be bluffing but you always have to be cognizant of the odds ocf your hand winning at the showdown.
In other words, and these are very close to the words of James Watt, my teacher, "If you ain't got nothin, fold, how much simpler can I make it ?". Save that monet for the next hand, when you might get something. He taught me a similar tactic about all kinds of bets, craps, roulette, poker machines and even a bit about slot machines, but I am not partial to them because they are pure luck. Other types of gambling involve skill. That is what I want.
These gambling laws have got to go, I would rather be in the basement of a bar playing poker than to go to vegas. Everybody brings about a grand and a gun. The guns are only for cheaters. That is where I would rather be. That is real. There is no house cut but the bar is making money bringing drinks down, perhaps some sandwiches as well, stuff like that. If I owned a bar I would love to host a small stake (a grand per player) poker game. They are notorious tippers and if you know any hookers you can make alot of money.
Organized gambling always has an edge. And what just occurred to me is the lottery. If some Woman has a baby that is starving, but has over a thousand dollars worth of losing lottery tickets for the last week, should she get public assistance ? If I were running the country her assistance would consist of getting the kid away from her until she was an adult.
It is like any other addiction, you do indeed try to recreate the first time, that theory falls a bit when it comes to cigarettes, but it does apply to everything else.
If I am legally an alcoholic and they serve me in a bar, they are OK, once I get drunk they stop serving me and urge me to take a cab home, perhaps even say my car ould be OK there. But if I do not get too drunk they have no such obligation.
Now, a bar is a purveyor of vice, and I am not saying that is a bad thing, but call a spade a spade. Now you have someone gambling in your casino, perhaps they took a couple naps at the table, but it was at a slow time. Their ability to gamble is based on how much money they are willing to gamble, if they are losing. If they are winning that might be a problem, but not to worry, most people lose.
Now if she were to start offering to sell her panties, or her sex, or anything like that I would have to throw her out. That is illegal in Vegas. You can't have anything going on illegal in a casino. Even patrons who get the upstairs rooms, them smoking a joint up there is a gray area. Now we are getting down to cigarettes.
In that yype of business you must be carefule. Every dime is accounted for and you are held to very strict professional standards. The odds in any game vs the payoffs must be right. That's why it's always better to go for a flush on a poker machine, it overpays, by law.
If you have never gambled, don't. That game is not a game. And you had better have a firm grasp of how and when to say no before you even start.
The main problem here is that people think it's a game. You can lose everything if you can'y say no. Guy I know, one of the few who knew Jim Watt went to Niagra Falls and they got gambling there. When he won $500 he took his son on helicopter ride. This is how it should work. Not having to pack up your stuff and move when you go home.
I don't think this lawsuit has a snowball's chance in hell, and also, I hope so. You put a hot cup of coffee between your legs, be careful not to spill it. Go to a casino, take a couple grand, but if you can't win before it is hgone, go home while you still have one. Have the self control to at least do that.
And harsh but not least, if you can't do that you deserve to lose everything, to remind you not to do it again.
