i was shown the first video posted on a LiveJournal account the other day, right about at the same time that Gwynyd found it. It was accompanied by a long list of comments from other bloggers and some addresses at which Sally Kern could be contacted. My Lady sat down and penned a very nasty letter right away. i knew that i wanted to do the same, but i wanted to let my anger cool first, so that i could think and speak rationally. Instead of writing just then, i spent some time passing the link on. As many people as possible should let her know that her ideas are unacceptable to them in whatever way will impress it on her most deeply. Yes, i do believe in freedom of speech. i think Sally Kern remains uneducated in this area by deliberate choice, which in my mind makes her a complete ass and, frankly, a worthless human being, but she has the right to bray in public regardless of how disgusting and nonsensical the words she emits. What should never have happened here is the election of a bigotted, right wing, religious zealot to public office. Religion, hatred, and politics should not mix. It was her duty when she first considered the position to free herself of as much insane bias as possible. Then again, those who voted for her also had the responsibility of never letting her come to power. At this point, and as she is not capable of keeping personal convictions personal, or acting for the benefit of all her constituents, she should be removed from office. Immediately removed. All of Oklahoma should be ashamed of this woman's position as a community leader. Hell, all of America should feel ashamed of it. Is that what i first wanted to tell her? No. i succeeded in calming myself enough to make sense, and i will keep my fury to myself even now simply because the way i would like to express that level of anger would make me harder to hear. It's quite apparent that she already has enough difficulty understanding anything more than single syllable words. If you'd like to have your say also, here are the addresses. Capitol Address: 2300 N. Lincoln Blvd. Room 332 Oklahoma City, OK 73105 District Address: 2713 Sterling Ave. Oklahoma City, OK 73127 [Mod Note: telephone number and email address removed]
