Politics is one of those topics, that either you agree on or you get very vehement about. I'd prefer not to discuss it if we disagree. However, we're both Democrats. I'm not compatible with conservatives.

How would you feel if your significant other voted differently from you in the coming erect... election?

Vote your conscience, is what I'd say.

Anyone submissive to me would be well versed in current affairs, and would be bright, so I tend to doubt she'd vote for some screwball.

BBWnNC72 -> RE: Voting and marital discord. (3/12/2008 5:32:25 PM)

i wouldn't care who my SO voted for, just that they make a conscience decision and voted.  Lucky for me, my Dom and i have very simular views on politics.  So we tend to agree alot.  But if i know that some one doesn't agree with my views, i won't talk about it to avoid an argument.  In  my line of work, i was tought to not talk about two things; politics and religion.  The weather is a nice safe area!

As long as they didn't vote for somebody completely crazy or destructive (Giuliani, Huckabee, et al.,) I think I'd be okay. would I be happy with a vote for McCain? Not really. But an informed, nuanced and well-thought out deciscion is fair enough in my book. At least you're trying to do your best.

My wife is one of the smartest people i know, so if she turned her attention to politics and came to different conclusions than i, i think it would be quite interesting to discuss them. However, she's fairly indifferent, so she follows my lead.

Even though i have quite strong political views, i don't believe i have The Answer, and i can discuss it without losing my temper, so i don't really see it being an issue.

dave, I appreciate those that not only are able to think out issues, but can do so without spazzing out.

I'm only required to vote.  I don't have to vote as he requires.  but we pretty much agree on most issues anyway, and more importantly, respect each other's opinions.

I could order my slave to vote for whom I wish.  It is her ability to decide for herself, that makes her valuable to me.

So will you tell her who to vote for or not?

Her obligations as a citizen always trump her obligations as my slave.  She's a registered democrat who voted for Obama in the primary, I'm a registered republican who voted for Ron Paul.

Emotions are easy to manipulate, logic, not so much... i figure it's a rule of thumb that if you're really agitated over a debate (as opposed to an event or condition), then you're not thinking enough...

Mistress has Her own opinions and views, therefore She can vote for whoever She likes.  If I don't like who She votes for, I'll simply vote for the other candidate to cancel out Her vote!  LOL  [:D]

No Republicans.  Been there, done that.

Yeah know.. I thought that my whole adult life.. one of my best friends ( from church.. yeah they dont let me out much) is a Repbulican. Has the freakin flag on his desk at home and every thing.. the bugger *works for* the RNC even...

yet.. some how he is the coolest guy ever. He is even dare I say it.. "doable" Mind you compared to me he is hobbit sized... but I think that is part of the whole appeal.. damn that is another thread all together. it is like that damn scene in Deuce Bigalow.. LOL

He is a *very* Liberal Republican. I didnt know there was such a creature out there. I asked him if he was a Unicorn.

( those fucking "Log Cabin" reps still floor me... bloody wankers)

But seriously they can't all be evil baby eating monsters... I found 1 good one. I can not confirm that there is more then 1 good one... but it is a start.

Gwyn,
*Chuckling like mad*

Gwynvyd -> RE: Voting and marital discord. (3/14/2008 1:55:44 AM)

Maybe it is how I am wired.. but I think the right to vote is almost a "sacred" right... and to dictate to someone who is a submissive how they should vote is it is against thier concious... that just squicks me. It would be a kin to dragging someone to a church they did not procribe to and was against because you were the D and they were the s and they had to "deal with it" again... *squick*

My girl is not very political... she knows I do tons of research on all the canidates. we discuss these things regularly... and she then makes an informed choice. I also send her links to thier websites, and things I think are important for her to know about each one. Since her and my ideas mesh together seemlessly she usualy just asks me who I am voting for in the local elections.. ( she isnt into doing that much research.. whereas I am) I would never order her to vote for any one.

to each thier own...

Gwyn

Ahhh thats why I'll use my secret weapon....not tell pet who I'm voting for so that he won't know, therefore cannot cancel out mine. Ha!

LeMis -> RE: Voting and marital discord. (3/15/2008 5:30:06 AM)

Votong is a personal as well as an individual thing.  It's his right & privilege.
We would have to be somewhat similiar (though not always) when it comes to politics, lifestyles, etc...
Everything is up for discussion, I enjoy listening to other views as long as they are not demeaning to mine.  [:D]
