How would you feel if your significant other voted differently from you in the coming erect... election?

I could order my slave to vote for whom I wish.  It is her ability to decide for herself, that makes her valuable to me.  She'll probably vote for Obama.  I haven't decided yet; I'd like to vote for McCain, but I think he's too old, and his military objectives are obsolete.

So will you tell her who to vote for or not?

If I found out my man had voted for Bush in the past, for example, I'd reconsider my relationship  .

In the US, voting is private.  I feel strongly that you should NEVER ask another person, SO or not, how they voted.

Fair enough - but it's not private for the primaries, which is a bit odd to me.

When married we had totally & completely different political views and I admit it made for some nasty arguments and tension. It is not a deal breaker but I don't think I would ever want to be in that sort of opposing view relationship again. Hopefully if it happened we would deal with it but I plan to avoid the situation in the beginning.

I know it is going to happen and know going forward it will happen a lot. His right as a citizen just like it is mine. It is just a topic that we agree to disagree in and thank heavens for DVR’s so I can watch my political shows in private.

Just the voting alone would have no impact on my relationship. I could not however be with a right wing fundamentalist Christian. :)

Unless you were a twue sadist, in which case you'd spend hours tormenting her about it  .

this slave chose: "it's none of my business", because it isn't.  Like Stephan, Master could tell this slave who to vote for and she would.  who He has voted for or will vote for wouldn't cause this slave to reevaluate our relationship.

Because in a primary you are not voting into office, you are voting for whom a political party is going to support.

What has amazed me with this, is that voting is only being looked at at the presidential level.

What about local politics?

At least one person has said that differences in voting would be a deal breaker.  Are they including judges and city councilmen and county treasurer?  What about the dog catcher?

Individuals have MUCH more impact at the state and local level.  But it seems that people are forgetting to consider that in their voting thoughts.

Okay.

The question still stands. . .

Do you expect EVERY vote to match in your relationship?

I wouldn't care, his vote is his own. I've told him just because your a sub doesn't mean you stop being a person. GET out there and vote.

It's hypothetical to me, as I don't have the right to vote here, but I'd expect we'd vote along the same lines; I agree with you that local politics tend to have a harder impact on everyday lives, and that people are disenfranchised from them.

For something as divisive as a general election, however, I'd be furious if his vote was different from mine. That's just me :-) .

PS: I just realised that the reason it matters so much to me is that because I don't have the vote, I'd like him to vote on my behalf, so to speak.

I am both in love with and owned by a wonderful man whos political views are often the opposite of mine. He has expressed that he does not intend to tell me who to vote for in the upcoming presidential election, but he could, even though I do have very strong feelings about it.
He has told me that in a tax referendum, he would probably order me to vote against almost any tax increase, as he knows damn well I would generally vote for most of them. We were discussing this last night, talking about proposed cig. tax hikes, which I am very in favor of. If he ordered me to vote a certain way, that is how I would vote, little curtain to close or not . I would not quit expressing my opinion, but my vote, in the end, belongs to him if he claims it, just like everything else.
