i loved that show growing up/have most of the seasons on DVD, however, i've noticed that despite its popularity, it seemed that the writer's never compared notes and there were SO MANY inconsistencies it would make my head spin trying to put the pieces together!  Ex....while Trapper John was on in the beginning, Hawkeye mentioned having a Mom AND a Sister, yet when BJ arrived, Dad was a widower since Hawkeye was a kid/he was an only child.  Hometowns changed on Hawkeye.
Nurse Kelly started out as Nurse Baker.
Can you name anymore?
Or if you didn't watch M*A*S*H, name another popular show w/too many easily identifiable inconsistencies.

Loved that show!  But I never really noticed the inconsistencies you mentioned in the show..just from the movie to the tv show.

Theres also the time Potter showed up as a loony old general earlier on in the series and then came back as Potter later on.
When you watched serials like that back then, they were far enough apart most people didnt catch on, and I dont think even the creators expected it to be nearly as popular as it was... so they never had to think about there being inconsistancies, they were just happy there were more episodes!

In the Quantum Leap episode, "Leap Of Faith", Sam recounts to a young boxer a scene from the film Rocky—the young boxer's locker door is tagged with S. Stallone—a reference to Sylvester Stallone. This creates a minor continuity error, as the episode takes place in Philadelphia but Stallone grew up in New York City.

Kind of like when Sam saved Jackie O from being shot along with JFK?

LOVE Quantum Leap! But does the OP mean consistency within the show or consistent with reality?

Within the shows, BSB, thank you.

I have a "coffee table book" on the entire MASH series - I've had it for about 15 or 20 years maybe??? My daughter pulled it out of my bookshelf recently and has now become hooked on it. If I recall correctly, I think they discuss the inconsistencies in the book, but I'm not sure, it's been quite a while since I read it myself.

Remember, that in Quantum Leap, there are (at least) two timelines. . . there are also the Evil Leapers.

Sam also convinces Marilyn Monroe to make The Misfits

But another show inconsistancy. . .

The ending has Sam never returning home because Al does not become part of the Quantum Leap Project. . . YET, in another episode, where Al was accused of raping a woman, another observer takes his place.  An English guy that calls Sam, "Samuel."

Hmmm. . . might have to go and watch some Quantum Leap today.  LOL

I thought in the end of Quantum Leap, Sam was given the choice by the bartender to go on to something that was never clearly specified - to keep helping people was the only thing hinted at. And then you hear that he was never seen again. At which point I lost it and cried like a baby. I absolutely love that show. It's one of my all-time favourites. I have got to get it on DVD!

They have a similar show called Journeyman - it's about a guy who gets pulled back into the past in order to change something important so the persons future will be different. i watched it last summer and thought about Quantum Leap - i am not sure if they will continue the Journeyman series as i think it may not have done so welll in it's first season.  Unlike Quantum he doesn't look like the person he is trying to help - he there in the future as himself and actually runs into his "old self" occassionally. Interesting show.

The last episode was SUPPOSED to be a cliffhanger.  But then the network did not renew the shows contract, so it had to serve as the ending.  There have been unconfirmed rumors off and on about a movie or another show.  But really, in Season 5, they diviated so much from the premise of the show in order to boost ratings. . . that it is hard to say what wither a new show (different leaper) or movie would look like.

wasn't the last episode one based on Sam's reflection on the last few years? The one where Sam was in a bar with a whole bunch of people he helped and him sort of narrating about his decision to continue leaping?

Edited to say:  I just saw LRF's post on the same thing! LOL  I cried at the end too..

Well, he is in a bar, and talking to "God, Time, or whatever."  And yes, there are people there that he helped, but while they LOOK the same, they do NOT have the same memories/lives.  So it is an almost "not-real" place.

And the guy that plays "God" was in the first episode as the weird guy.

Can't help with the Thread as I don't tend to notice those kinds of things I just watch a show for the story and how it is acted out not for full time lines which is why I HATE Mini-Series I like to catch what I catch and miss what I miss

I LOVES the Leaps where he was a Girl and when he was Retarded. LOVE those ones cause Scott Bacula shoed he could really act in those.

As Always
