Aneirin -> Body casting, anyone any experience? (3/13/2008 9:22:52 AM)

I do ceramics but I hate ceramics, playing with mud, making inane little pots and jars, when I already have a cupboard full of them. Exploring techniques and practice I suppose, but it could at least be more interesting.

And oh, it can be, for I have recently discovered there is the art of body casting or life casting as some call it. Casting the human form, parts of it and the whole of it.

Now that is a good use of ceramics and so I am looking further, as the possibilities are limitless, beautiful to make and beautiful to behold, an end result a pleasure to see.

So, I do ask here, is there anyone that knows anything of it ?

Yes, I suppose that is one take on it, but there is much more to work with than a couple of inches.

You can get your mod roc from here http://www.tiranti.co.uk/ and any other sculpting materials you need. For those couple of inches you want Alginate http://www.tiranti.co.uk/subdivision_product_list.asp?Content=Alginate&Subcategory=54&Subdivision=
