Kitte9 -> Singletail Workshops? (3/13/2008 7:26:28 PM)

I have been intereted in learning to use a singletail since a fetish flea over a year ago. Is anyone aware of upcoming workshops or events where I could begin learning the basics?

Are you willing to travel to attend one, or are you trying to find one in your area? I've attended some really useful singletail workshops at Black Rose's annual event here in DC.

If you don't have a local bdsm group that offers workshops, you might see if there is a sportcracking group in your area to go practice with and learn from. They are usually vanilla, but the target practice is helpful. There's also a good how-to video (http://www.singletailsinthescene.com/) from Roger Stevens that is very helpful.

Hope this is useful!

Kitte> what i did was find a mentor that knew what they were doing , hands on type approach , i watched my local area  for a long time , picked up what i could , and  continue to do so .Do not be afraid to ask for advice and help to perfect your throw and control etc , be respectful, observe ,politely ask when someone who is highly skilled may be able to help . I have attended  some workshops to but  found them less hands on and more like  intro demos .If you have picked up some basics  and have a  single tail the best thing to do while your seeking is work with your tool as much as you can , even if its a lil each day .check out the bdsm events page for most of the events and cons coming through out the  year . You can also look  for instructional dvd's and use those too if your lucky enough to find them .
Good luck -best wishes and keep  at it !

Research 5 minutes to singletails. It's a down to earth video/presentation depending if you're willing to travel. It demistifies the singletail and teaches you some really basic techniques. Also if you contact The Cell Block in Fayetteville, NC the guy created the video is there for support and to talk you through things. His name is Jarrett...he says so on the video and you can tell him the boi sent you.

Thanks, boi, I may just do that.

You can drop me a line and I'll give you the contact info. I like the presentation not just because I've done it but because of how down to earth it is. You're not talking to "the  mighty Master Who-Ha of Wilsonborough, Nowehere and Owner of sshi-chi and lola" you're watching and participating with someone who wants you to feel safe and comfortable using a new toy and having fun doing it. So yeah...the DVD is super cheap is you buy one of thewhipchick's whips...which are great as far as I'm concerned and Jarrett can tell you a bit about different whips what they're amde of and why prefers the one's he prefers and how that might play into what you choose to play with.

Anyways good luck in finding the style and method that suits you best and enjoy the new skill you have a chance to learn.
