Big huggy pets!!  I am nursing my darling gpig through more of her stomach woes, and treasure every moment.

*group hugs to you all.. and for the fur babies..scritches, tummy rubs etc...*

I'm copying all your comments to email to Mom.. I know she'll take as much comfort from them as I am... (and yes, I'm removing names..LOL... Mom knows about my 'dark' side, but no point in rubbing her nose in it, even though she's SO non-judgemental... she and I agreed a long time ago that there are some things parents and children shouldn't know about each other..)

And last, but by no means least.... look to your dreams. I say this because about 10 years ago we had the 13 yr old family cat euthanized for many reasons. I was reasonably sure it was the "right thing to do" but felt riddled with guilt about it anyway. Some time after the horrid event, I had a dream in which she came up to me, jumped onto my lap and settled down. Began to purr and all. The innate sense of "it's OK, I understand what you did, and it's alright and I forgive you" that came from her was overwhelming. I woke up bawling my eyes out, but feeling sooooo much better. It was her, I know it was - she came to me.

So big hug GT, and one for your mum too.

Big hugs, Greedy. It's always so hard to lose a furbaby.

The Rainbow Bridge story
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together

I hope this brings you comfort.. I know in my heart of hearts my loved pets await me there for when I "go Home"

Gwyn

Ok, now I'm cryin...smiles...Cassie was 16 when we had to ease her pain 2 years ago, George is 18 as we speak..the other 3 are young, 3, 1 1/2 and 1, but its so hard...we made a bunch of false starts taking Cassie to the vet, for a solid week we would try every day till finally my husband was the strong one to carry her out of our door.  Big hugs to you!!! They are part of our family, and this story was amazing.... Hugs again to you and your mom.......and to Baby.

Ya know, Greedy, I've never really quite understood that, given that centuries ago people's main source for conducting a relationship was via - letter. There is much power in the written word.

I have two friendships that have lasted for over eight years now yet began online initially and it was over two years of communicating via email/messenger before we all had met in person. We'll be lifelong friends and knew that from the initial weeks of contact.

I'm glad you're finding a little comfort, it's great to know that people DO care.

i've got friends that i've known for 10 years that i havent yet met in person.  but i know them through their words.  [:)]
