Ah, the Big One! Hmmmm
This will probably be Me at My most philosophical, and should be viewed as a living document. After all, one's nic is the classic expression of self as defined by the owner. Not the name that each of us was given at birth by our parents, relecting their hopes and dreams for us. No, our nics are ours alone, being an odd balance of how we see ourselves and how we wish ourselves to be seen by others. Brutal truth and fantasy, locked in eternal combat with our souls as the prize.
Which brings me to "Janus". Why choose a minor Roman god, the god of gates and doorways, of beginnings and endings, whose most endearing claim to fame (aside from being eternally accused of being two-faced, implying deceptive) was that the doors to his temple in Rome would be closed only when there was peace throughout the Empire (consequently a very drafty place for most of the time). Why not Zeus or Thor, Kukulkan or Coyote, Ra or Surya, even Cthulhu or Gilgamesh; any of them would have sufficed. But none of them would have addressed the complexity, the exquisite need to satisfy both the physical and metaphysical aspects of Me, the sacred and the profane and perhaps most importantly in this forum, the kink and the vanilla. Janus exists in the present, but looks towards both the past and the future. In seeing both and through experience, perhaps I shall achieve enlightenment, the quest for which never really ends.
It was the only logical choice.

Yes, Janus is a good choice. The god who looks forward and back similtaneously. And, the god (dess) who combines both male and female physical and emotional attributes.

Hmm. I did so not realize about the male/female aspect of Janus, being decidedly male myself. Ach, its too late to change it now! Live by the consequences of My actions!
